Big Z to the Bullpen???

The news today is that Carlos Zambrano has been moved to the bullpen to make space in the rotation for Ted Lilly.

Chicago Cubs....

WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING??

I get it, we need to pull someone out of the rotation and send them to the pen. Because let's face it, the bullpen has been dreadful this season.

But Carlos Zambrano?!?

Sure if it works out Lou Piniella looks like a genius. But that's a big if. If and when this fails, and it will fail, the Cubs will look like a joke. Put Carlos Silva in the pen. Put Tom Gorzelanny in the pen. But you do not send a guy who has a $91.5 million contract to the bullpen. He is supposed to be your ace. That'd be like the Seattle Mariners sending Felix Hernandez to the bullpen.

Lou Piniella, I love ya, but are you going senile? I get that you have to make a move to shake things up because what you have going on now is not working. But you do not waste a guy's talent like this.

I truly believe that this will be what eventually runs Lou out of town. As of tonight Cubs fans, you can start counting the days until Ryne Sandberg is the next manager.

Carlos Zambrano as of the last two years hasn't been pitching very well, he won nine games last year and he is now 1-2 now, and maybe this will help him get on a roll and moving in the right direction.

I would call this the start of the end for Zambrano in Chicago.

All I'm complaining about is that now the Cubs are the only team in the history of the league to have a $91.5 million set-up man.

To me, it's just a tremendous waste of money.

It's a combination of him underperfoming, and the Cubs having zero bullpen at the moment.

As for Zambrano, I've felt he's been one of the most overated pitchers in baseball for years now.

There no question he has talent, but that's not his problem.  His problem is he really doesen't want to work that hard anymore at his game.

He'll keep himself in decent shape, and do enough to stay in the rotation, but not much beyond that.

Dude lost 20 pounds in the offseason and you say he doesn't want to work hard anymore??

I give this little publicity stunt a week before he's back in the rotation.

As you all might know I'm not a cubs fan at all and as a fan of the Brewers I'm excited to hear this. I'd much rather face a pitcher like gorzelanny or silva than zambrano any day of the week because a struggling zambrano is still better than someone like silva in my mind. I'm with steve on this one... what are you doing chicago?

Real question is who will be the first to go?

Lou Piniella or Carlos Zambrano?

Well I think Big Z will be there for a little bit of time then they'll take him out and put him back in the rotation for possibly Gorzolony
