The Official March Madness Thread

Post all your thoughts throughout Selection Sunday and March Madness here.

But first, I'd like to say something that's not MM related.

Ohio State must feel accomplished that they beat the #8 Seed in the Big Ten Confrence... and Manny Harris one of the best Guards in college basketball

Wow. First 4 games decided by a combined 12 points.

2 of them went to OT and the other 2 decided by 1 point.

But how about Robert Morris leading Villanova by 9 points with 3 minutes left, then Villanova came back to win it in OT.

And 2 upsets already: Old Dominion and Murry St

THIS IS MADNESS.

When did Georgetown turn into NJIT??? They let the MAC champs of Ohio damn near hang a 100 on them! Last week in the Big East tournament was a fluke I guess! I am very disapointed in their play

I thought from the start Georgetown was overrated as a three seed. They are a good team yes but they didn't deserve a three seed and that showed tonight. As for Murry State winning that i tip my hat to them. Marquette blew it to Washington as did Florida to BYU. Very long tough day and also Notre Dame getting knocked out.

Since 88 did a Tip To My Hat to Murray St... I do a Wag of my Finger to Georgetown and Norte Dame...

Murray St. Does lead the NCAA in FG% with 50% but their not in a good Division... 8 Teams didnt even get 10 Confrence wins and barely half of the teams int their division have 15 wins.

for Old Dominion... WHO THE F is OLD DOMINION!!! again another team that was the best in a Okay division. Colonial i guess there okay?

I Put a Tip to my Hat to every player that hit a Buzzer Beater

If Singler plays like he did last night then Butler has no chance. If he has some problems that could give Butler a chance to strike. Also Dukes size with Zoubek, Thomas and the Plumley twins is tough and they get alot of offensive boards. If Butler doesn't Box out (Basketball Fundamentals 101) then Duke wins no contest

What did people think of the end of the game yesterday? I thought Butler played a great game, but in the end Brian Zoubek, Kyle Singler, and Jonathn Schyer were to much for the Bulldogs. Also the Blue Devils played great defense throughout the game which helped them in crunch time. With the win Mike K got his fourth title tied with the great Adolph Rupp for second place. SO what will you remember this game for? The Buther run or Mike K's fourth title?

I'm just sad that this is the last time it's going to be a 65 team tournament.

It's pretty much a forgone conclusion that it's going to be a 96 team field next year.  The NCAA wasn't happy about Carolina and UConn missing out this year, so that will change next year.

I actually would be for the move, provided that a regular season conference title also guaranteed you a birth into the tourney in addition to winning your conference tourney.  But this expansion isn't about making the tournament fairer.  It's about giving more chances to big conference teams who already have plenty of chances as it is to make the dance.

Make no mistake about it, the foxes are looking after the chicken coup, and the divide between power conference teams and non power conference teams is only going to get bigger.

That's going to make the brackets next year interesting.

The real reason behind the move are the two M's. Marketing and Money.

96 teams = more games = more TV time

ESPN = big market = more money

Also. I find it hilarious that they are willing to expand the Basketball tournament to 96 teams. Yet they won't make a playoff for Football.

That's because a playoff doesen't benefit the major conferences.

The expansion is in part about making more tv money, but it's more about crushing the little guy.

North Carolina, Kentucky, UConn all pour millions of dollars into their programs, and they don't like it when a Gonzaga or a Butler shows them up in the tourney too much.  Same goes for football.  So they are going to do everything in their power to assure that doesen't happen.

It's corrupt as all hell, but the NCAA has been argubly the most corrupt institution in this country now for quite some time in my opinion, so it's just business as usual.

This is my problem in the whole thing. They are worried too much about somethign thats not a big problem. The 65 team tournament is just fine no need to go and change it to 96. What they need to be focusing on is the Bogus BCS System for Football
