just read on espn.com about gilbert arenas pulling a gun on a teamate. really dumb **** to pull and the nba should suspend him for the rest of the season. that stuff should not be tolerated in any sports league or society.
I think your not allowed to own a gun inside of DC even with the right to bear arms? unless DC changed that. so thats stupid having a gun at a place thats not even allowed
Great scorer, I'll give you that, but he can't play a lick of defense, and turns the ball over way too many times for me to justify him as a true point guard.
Not saying he's a bad player. I just don't think he's good enough to justify building a team around, and I don't think he ever was. People just take one look at that PPG, and say OMG this guy is awesome. They don't see that he can't even get two assists for every turnover he has, while the average NBA starting point guard can get at least 2 and a half.
And as I said before he can't play defense, although to be fair, most point guards can't. Rondo, Paul, and Kidd. That's pretty much the list for point guards that actually know how to play defense in my mind. After those three you have a huge dropoff.
Well Hes a good player and al yes. But this is just stupid ****. He had a debt with teamate Javaris Crittion which he didn't want to pay Javaris confronted him on a plane ride back from Phoneix and then the incident happend the next day during practice. He should have just ****ed maned up and payed the debt off its chump change considering he signed a ****ing 111 Million dollar deal in '08 and now with this if he is found guilty of anything the Wizards could terminate rest of the contract and his playing carrer could be done

I love this story, Gilbert Areana's a couple of years ago was probaly one of the best players in the league, he has had knee surgeries that have slowed him down and now this. Gilbert is a cheapskate I guess you could say, but wouldn't the league or team/coaching staff like check out the lockers for this kind of stuff? I guess not in Gilbert's case. The NBA needs to implement stricter rules when it comes to this stuff.

im pretty sure the rules are strict on this.....I dont think the NBA likes having 1/6 of a team strapped during a game...Just imagine the fun if when Artest was in the Detroit brawl if he had a gun in his warm up jacket lol

Wow Gilbert brought three guns to the game that's retarded. Who is he hanging with that he needs to bring guns all the time? He must've pissed someone off and now he is scared for his life.

I'd add the word yet on the end of that last sentance, because we never know what Artest is going to do. The man went up into the stands to fight somebody starting a small riot.
It is bizare to say the least though. What I find most surprising is that the Wizards haven't an issued a statement regarding the incident. From a basketball perspective you would probably drop this guy in a hearbeat. The con of may pull gun on teamate pretty much trounces any pro he may have, but from a business perspective that may prove more difficult.
Gilbert Arenas is probably up there in the top ten for most marketable NBA players, and is by far and away the most popular player for a franchise still struggling to find an image after changing their name over a decade ago.
If you left it up to the Wizards front office I'm not even sure they would suspend him, let alone throw him off the team. I think unless you see direct intervention from the NBA, or the D.C. police, Arenas is staying in D.C.
Because let's be honest, I only 3 players on the Wizards, Arenas, butler, and Jamison. But to the common fan, they only know Arenas, you can't drop him.
well on one hand i undestand being armed......theres been a few guys who have been robbed and dont forget the shooting death of sean taylor....they are sngled out for having money but theres protection and then theres one man militia

I don't buy that we're being singled out crap for a minute. There's an old saying, don't move next to a garbage dump and then complain about the smell.
That is to say if you walk into a club where you feel you need a gun to feel protected, maybe you shouldn't go there. There's plenty of nightspots where athletes could go to, and feel no threat of violence. Why do you have to be in that particular club where the five gang members are hanging out?
Don't complain to me about situations you put yourself in and expect sympathy.
They should be Baja becasue they are grown men and they have the right to do what they want. Gilbert Areanas made a huge mistake by not paying back , and for them being singled out, not to be a dick, but it has been said that Sean Taylor hung out with the wrong crowd, and in the end he got burned for it. YOu can't go around hanging with gangsta's and wangsters, cause all that is going to lead is to some problems down the line when they want your money and you don't want to give it to them.

It may be good news for the Wizards though in the long run, as Gilbert was being overpayed by about $6 million, so if they can find a way to void his contract, it may actually give them some cap room to work with.
Then again, that's a big if, because you know the union is going to fight that tooth and nail.
As a side note it also happens to be Gilbert Arenas' birthday today, so quite a birthday gift from the commish.

Gilbert Arenas is a bit of a jokester and I understand that but I dont know how he could make a joke about guns. First he said he took them from home to the arena because he didnt have any guns around his young children. That I find respectable but to bring them into the locker room is straight foolish. Washington D.C. has some of the strictest gun laws in our country. D.C. is a federal onclave, so he is dealing with US Attorneys office not the local D.A. So he loses gambling debt on the plane, I have read that is was either 500 dollars or 60,000 dollars. Im guessing its the latter one. Then he starts needeling Javaris Crittendon and they exchange words but when he gets back to DC he lays out 3 guns and tells Crittendon to pick his poison. I could see that as a very bad joke but he owed the dude probably 60 large!!! I would be pissed too. Arenas better find himself the best lawyer because I am thinking he is probably going to go to jail longer than Plaxico.
Slowly details are beginning to emerge, and if you believe this Washington Post story, it wasn't a joke as Gilbert Arenas explains, it was a very serious and heated argument.
If that story is true, then Arenas' is almost certainly looking at jail time, and is probably finished in the NBA for good.
Crittenton isn't in that much better shape. The only thing he can argue is that Arenas provoked the incident, although his career is probably finished as well.
Sure they can. Crittenton was Fined by the Wizards along wiht 3 other players for having fun with Arenas's "Gun Show" fun before the game. Hes going to be suspended sometime by the NBA most likely though it might not be as long but he wil be

So earlier today Gilbert Arenas was charged with a felony gun possession charge, and is looking at a maximum five year jail sentence with a fine.
Arenas had four guns in the locker room at the time, and if prosecutors wanted to they could have charged him on all four accounts.
The reason they didn't is because they are probably looking for a guilty plea out of Arenas which they'll probably get. Neither side of a court case ever wants to go to trial, but they do want him to probably serve jail time, and he's probably looking at a least a year sentence, maybe two, but I doubt any longer then that.
As for his future in the league, that question is way more up in the air, but it's pretty clear Gilbert Arenas is not stepping on an NBA court for quite some time.
I'm surprised, but that's what having a good legal team will get you.
Still the NBA will come down hard on Gilbert, and the Wizards will try to use the opportunity to void his overinflated contract.
If they can do that, it means the Wizards will have shed $50 million from their payroll from next year (that's obviously including other players on the team set to become free agents), and guess who that puts them in the running for?
I've said this team has been looking for an image ever since changing their name from the Bullets to the Wizards, and LeBron James would certainly give them that image. D.C.'s a big market, they do have some talent, and I think that area would suit somebody like LeBron James perfectly.
I still think New York would be number one for possible LeBron destinations, but D.C. would be right there if they could get the cap space.

With him reaching a plea deal most likely he'll get a few months of Jail time and probation and what ever else. As for coming back to the NBA i was reading on ESPN that Marc Stein was speculating if the Wizards void his contract He could come back to play for the Magic sometime down the road. Now its only speculation but that would be interesting to see
