Quentin Richardson is perhaps the best example in the NBA right now of a player who stopped give a hoot (most politically correct term I can come up with) the day he got his first big contract.
To be fair injuries have played a role in his decline, but I don't think nagging injuries alone are enough to contribute to that dramatic of a decline in play.
He's a good solid third option back in the early 2000's he was good with the Kings and the Grizzlies so this is a good veteran pick up. Jameer probaly will get injured again so it's always to good to have three options.

The Sacramento Kings finding a team out there who didn't think Jason Williams was one of the laziest players in NBA history, but not only that, they got Mike Bibby out of the deal.
But Jason Williams, for what he could have been, he should be ashamed at the type of career he's had.
Came into the league had a big rookie year, and then decided you know what, I don't think I need to work at my game anymore. I'll keep myself in shape, but as far as trying to find new ways to make myself better, screw that. Just as long as I'm good enough to stay in the league I'm happy.
if you want to know why players who had great careers often make bad coaches it's because of players like Jason Williams. They can't comprehend how a player with that much talent could be satisfied with accomplishing so little.
Darko was drafed by a team that felt like they could take a chance on an unproven commedity which Darko was.
He has the perfect build that you would want in a Power Forward. Seven footer, grea outside shot, good defender, good head on his shoulders what's not to like here.
Problem was Darko never fit into Larry Brown's system, and they could win without him, so why take the time to develop him?
By the time he actually started to get some playing time he suffered two leg injuries which have virtually any chance he will have at being anything more then a role player.
Bust, yeah. Biggest ever though? No. I would much rather have a guy like Darko on my team then someone like Michael Olowokandi who by all accounts in addition to being a bad player is an ass.
I feel sorry for Darko. Who knows what he would have been able to do had another NBA team drafted him, and actually taken the time to develop him rather then have him rot on the bench.
I think he could have been a very productive player in another system. His draft status is just made that much worse by the guys drafted behind him, but it's not the dumbest move I've ever seen made even in hindsight.
SG I'm sorry but your way off on that one. He is a bust but he isn't the biggest bust by far. Sam Bowie fits in that category for me, then there is Kwame Brown, and then lets not forget Micheal Olowankandi. Then there is also Greg Oden, who if you ask me will be the biggest bust in all NBA history.

Allen Iverson has gotten an offer from the Memphis Grizzlies to play for them. Good fit? I think that it's just trying to boost attendance for the Grizzlies because as of now they are 29th in attendance just ahead of the Kings, but there are local rumours out in Seattle that Seattle is trying to go for the Grizzlies or the Kings as a next possible team.

According to Baja the Grizzlies will win the NBA title with this move, so fears of a move shouldn't be taken seriously.
Honestly Iverson is nothing more then a role player at this point.
He doesen't have an outside shoot, is a below average defender, and can't drive the lane like he used to.
Will the Grizzlies move to Seattle? I have no idea at this point. Would the city of Seattle even welcome the NBA back at this point? I wouldn't if I were a Sonics fan.
What happened to them was BS. Plain and simple. Build me an arena or I'm leaving. What the hell type of rational is that?
The federal government should have stepped in and made stadium referendums illegal a long time ago. Billions of dollars have been wasted because of these stadiums.
Pmoe I agree with everything you said their accpet the fact about the Sonics fan not welcoming back another basketball team. This year seemed very different for Seattle around Novemeber and December area, we still have the orginization SOS and Greg Nichols is not even going to make another stint as mayor because of the way he handled the Sonics situation, and transportation but thats another issue.October 9th they have a documentary coming out called Sonicsgate, it's about everything you said and about how Seattle has chances to draw the Sonics back to Seattle.

I know someone who was involved in that case between the city of Seattle and Clay Bennett. He might even be in the film.
The scary part with the Sonics is something like that could happen to any team in all four of the major pro sports.
You have to be careful though because there is alot of misinformation out there regarding sports business, and I could see this film potentially forwarding a few of those myths.
I'm an economics major at Umass, and I can tell you that you need a good understanding of how a monopoly operates first in order to understand how sports business operates.
Alot of what I know isn't talked about online. I'm just lucky in the sense that I've met as many people that I've had with regards to sports business. There's no way I would have the knowledge I have if I didn't met these people.
Nice yah I could see that I just bought tickets for the Documentary and will update everyone about it when I see it. Dale Memphis is on the rise your right they have Rudy Gay and O.J. Mayo that are rising stars and could end up being superstars in this league.

As a basketball fan i love Rudy Gay. If he was on a contending team people could really like what he does for a team. Hes is really the number one option there unless they get A.I. but dosn't get the credit because he plays for the Griz

AI still won't be the number one option on that team, ZI would say he would be third option behind O.J. Mayo and Rudy Gay.
I tend to agree. Both Mayo and Gay bested Iverson in nearly every major statistical category last year. One of the biggest problems with Memphis is that nobody on that team can play defense, and Iverson isn't going to help that cause.

Iverson and defense have never gone together, he really looks like he doens't he want to play defense. The Griz should keep him on the bench for when they need an offensive spark or he's gonna be useless. The Griz really should look in trading Marc Gasol for a defensive center like a Tyson Chandler.

Yah true, but even offensive minded players can turn around aka Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, and Dwayne Wade, but here's the thing you can't teach old dogs new tricks so AI won't try on defense anyways.

He plays the passing lanes great, and led the NBA in steals a few years ago.
Problem is he can't play man on man because of his size.
At his peak Iverson was a decent defender, but now that most of his speed is gone, he can no longer play the passing lanes like he used to, which was his biggest defensive asset.
Right now I look at some of the best defensive players in the game today Dwight Howard, Tim Duncan, Chris Paul, LeBron, Kobe, Dwayne Wade. These guys get it done on both sides of the ball.
I could explain why this is the case now as opposed to the 1980's and before, but that post would be about a page long.
Just know that there are very few players out there in the NBA today that could be considered great players without possesing great defensive skills. The best guy I could think of would be Pau Gasol.
.....Amazing how Allen Iverson went to being one of the best Basketball players in the NBA to not being signed on Day 1 of Free Agency. Amazing how the mighty have fallen overtime. I hope the answer returns to form this season....
Bottom line is he isn't worth the money anymore. He isn't worth 10 or 15 million he is probaly worth about 4-5 million maybe now because he is going to be a reserve. AI is only going to the Grizzlies to boost up attendance.
