Micheal Curry out as Detroit Pistons head coach

Micheal Curry has been fired as the Pistons head coach after one year. Although he go in the playoffs, he had a hard time controlling the players and controlling the locker room. He had many problems with long time vet and star Rip Hamilton.  I was shocked to see the firing so soon, I thought he would at least get another year, but sometimes thats the way it goes.

I wonder who Detroit will hire as a coach now as a Pistons fan. Maybe go for a Former Coach like Avery Johnson. or someone at least Experienced instead of a rookie coach.

This was a decision that I remember being criticized from day one.

I really don't understand why you would fire a coach who has taken you deep into the playoffs every year since taking over, and replace him with a guy with absolutely no head coaching experience.

The only reason it even flew was because the move was justified solely on Joe Dumars reputation to bring in new talent, which has now taken a major hit with this firing.

Well they have the most money to spend in free agency and they might sign ben gordon but if that hapens they might try to trade Rip Hamilton.

Steven you still have a pretty good three pointer and complete guard in Kirk Hinrich on their bench, sure he's not the best, but at the end of the day he's still a pretty good option for the Bulls.

Look, I'm a big Kirk Hinrich fan.. He's a good defender, a solid shooter, and he's tough. But he can't hit the clutch shot like Ben Gordon. After his performance in the playoffs Ben Gordon has earned a spot next to Robert Horry and Derrick Fischer when it comes to clutch shooting.

Also as you said, Hinrich is on the bench. That's where he prospers. He is a great guy to have come off your bench and play solid basketball. But now that Gordon is gone I'm not sure who's gonna start at gaurd. Maybe John Salmons? But I don't know if I'm comfortable with him as a starter.

My view on Gordon is that he is probably the best outside shooting guard in the game today for somebody with that much talent, and he is really isn't going to do anything stupid.

The downside to Gordon is that outside of being a pure shooter there isn't a whole lot else to say about him.

He's a terrible defensive player mainly because of his size, can't rebound, and his ability to create open shots for other players is only average for a starting shooting guard.

I think Gordon is a good shooting guard, but he has limitations, and if he is anything above the third best player on your team, your not going to be an NBA Title contender.

For what the Pistons needed though, he's a good fit.  Mainly the Pistons need youth.  It's clear that guys like Rasheed Wallace, Rip Hamilton, and Teyshawn Prince are either approaching or are already on the downside of their career.

Ben Gordon is 25 years old, and is in the prime of his career right now, and along with Rodney Stuckey the Pistons now have their starting backcourt for at least the next three years.

As for Chicago it hurts, and it's very unlikely the Bulls are going to go out and get another player as good as Gordon was, but it's not the worst thing in the world to happen.

Their biggest issues are whether or not to keep John Salmons who could potentially take over the shooting guard position in Gordon's absence, and what to do with Luol Deng who Chicago is expecting big things from, but who played very uninspired basketball, and who's biggest contrabution to the team last year apperaed to be going down with an injury to allow the Bulls to go out and get Salmons.

As for Hinrich, he's a very good point guard (good enough to start for about half the teams in the NBA in my opinion) but because of his high salary he is going to be very difficult to trade, and will likely be staying in Chicago.

Depeding on how you look at it this is either a very good thing or a bad thing.  Good because you have a guy good enough to be an NBA starter as your sixth man.  Bad because he's eating up salary that can really be used to help out at another position, mainly with depth, because the Bulls really don't have a deep bench right now, and it probably cost them the series against the Celtics.

As long as Chicago can keep Derrick Rose though, they will be a good team I feel.

I think Jason Kapono is the best outside SG in the game today. He had a great shooting season with the Raptors.

 A. I agree 100% with that.
B. Luol Deng has a vagina which is often sore.
C. The most valuable thing Luol Deng has done for the Bulls since signing a huge deal was missing most of the season with a sore vagina and not having to bring the team down on the court.
D. John Salmons was the biggest steal of the NBA last season.
E. That is all.
