UFC 98 Preview

Here is a preview of UFC 98 from Bestever and myself:

Light heavyweight championship: Rashad Evans (champ) v. Lyoto Machida

Evans is defending his belt for the 1st time after defeating Forrest Griffin last year. Machida is coming off a huge KO victory over previously unbeaten Thiago Silva. Both of these fighter come in undefeated so something has to give. Evans is a superb wrestler with great striking power. However, he is not known for his techincal striking ability and has a limited ground game. Machida on the other hand is as elusive striker as they come. His fighting style is a bit boring to fans but very effective. Machida is favored to win the fight  which is rare for the champ to be the underdog.

Bestever: Machida by Unanimous Decision...BBALLCOACH: Machida TKO round 4

Matt Hughes v. Matt Serra

A true grudge match between two former world champions. These guys really hate each other stemming from their season as coaches of the Ultimate Fighter. Both guys are fighting on borrowed time. Serra has not impressed even with his fluke victory over GSP and Matt Hughes is coming off a loss to #1 contender Thiago Alves. Matt Hughes should win this fight rather easily.

Bestever: Hughes by Unanimous decision.....BBALLCOACH: Hughes by KO round 2

Drew McFedries v. Xavier Foupa-Pokam

A contrast in styles as McFedries is a striker and Foupa-Pokam is a submission fighter. I always take the submission guy!

Bestever and BBALLCOACH: Foupa-Pokam submission round 1

Chael Sonnen v. Dan Miller

Sonnen is looking to rebound after a tough loss wwere as miller is up and coming. I think Sonnen will be able to defend the submission attempts of Miller and win this fight

Bestever: Miller by submission round 2.....BBALLCOACH: Sonnen KO round 3

Sean Sherk v. Frankie Edgar

Both guys have wrestling backgrounds so this could be a boring fight. Sherk will press the pace early and outlat Edgar

Bestever and BBALLCOACH: Sherk by unanimous decision
