The NFL is thinking about having 2 games being held in London, England in 2010. They say that this could help bring in money since the games are always sellouts in London, and it would increase the popularity of American football outside the US and Canada.
I think this is an awful idea, because the NFL is just simply like this. It won't get popular outside of America. Its an American sport. Plus, it was one game last year, now its going to be two, then before you know it, theres going to be a third game, and its just going to continue. Why not just make an English American Football League while they are at it. This idea is terrible, flush it down the toilet.

Pistonsfan this is where I disagree with you, NFL is a great sport and it is a great organization. Expanding it would be awesome. Playing it in London is another way for the sport to make some new followers outside the states. Western Europe to Germany actually loves watching the NFL. So if the NFL can expand its audience to a more global level it could be like basketball and soccer or cricket or even rugby.

I have a lot of friends who live in the UK,Germany, and Italy, and they all love the NFL. Its not a bad idea. It sucks for the fans in the U.S because that would be one or two less game/games that you could attend. Its a whole new market for the NFL, and past showings prove that it can work.
Europe is a completely unproven, and untested market. I'm not counting NFL Europe because that's not the product the NFL puts out.
Nearly all major sports leagues right now are trying to go global. It's the final frontier for expansion. The NFL is no different.
If the NFL feels that increasing their percentage of dollars invested overseas will generate more revenue for them either now or down the road, then they should do it, as any business would and should do.
In my opinion they should do it. The NFL is a monopoly. They are the only provider in the world of high caliber American football. They are close to if not already at the level where it does not pay for them to invest any more money into the US.
Worst case scenario for the NFL is that their European investment is a complete failure, and they go back to the original strategy of marketing almost solely in the United States.
Best case scenario is they are able to establish a market over in Europe to a degree where it is financially feasible to put some expansion teams over there.
completely agree with p-mo on this. no reason why the NFL shouldnt do this, but i think if they are going to do this then they should expand the nfl season to 18 games.
Well if the NFL does expand their season then college football would have to expand theirs as well. Cause you already hear of rookies burning out towards the end of the season because of the longer schedule. I know Goodell wants to make a 20 game season but it would only work if college expands their season. Because if the NFL does go to 20 games then you would have almost twice as many NFL games than college games. Players would go from playing 11-12 games to playing 20-24 games depending on how far their team goes.

Why shouldn't they do this get the game more popular over seas that's a great idea by the NFL. Make the NFL not a national market but lets have them make it a global market. I am all ofr having the NFL more popular in the world. Basketball for example is getting more popular in the world why because the NBA and U.S. now other people realize that basketball is fun to play and they want to play to.

I think that the one game there a year is good enough. Maybe a few years down the road they could look into making it two games there. They've showed that with that one game there are plenty of fans in London who will go to the games and if they do go to two games it'll just make the NFL even more popular

Yah and I mean if you want to get it more noticed play it in different countries rather than playing it in the same place for three years in a row now.

I don't want to go to England to go see a football game. I would prefer to stay here, and watch my home team play some good games. I know it sounds like a d-bag move, but I don't give a ****.
The Fins aren't going to be good this year. Pennigton is a one year wonder and a fluke. Nobody is going to fall for the wildcat anymore, and the Pats are going to get Brady back.
Ok Baja your right on this one. If nothing Chad Pennington has been consistant. The most touchdowns he's thrown is the last seven years is 22 touchdowns. He has played 3 games one year then 15 then 9 and then 16 so he has been very inconsistant with those game playing. He still is always very accurate passing but he hasn't played in a lot of games over the last four years.

Of course thats going to help out any team because it brings dynamic options to your offense. I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of teams running it this year.

Yah it looks really good for a team to run it but some teams don't have the weapons to run the wildcat efficently. The Dolphins that was amazing that they could run it that long with it being successful but now teams have film on that and the Wildcat won't be as successful as last year.

No not at all the Wildcat is going to be bad this year. The Wildcat already has problems now with the film. Even with the WIldcat Pat White is amazing but he is a very fast guy but he won't do much to improve the Dolphins offense.

Lets look at their scedule. I'll go one by one, and say if the fins win or not.
W1: Falcons L W2: Colts L W3: Bolts L W4: Bills W W5: Jets W W6: BYE W7: Saints L W8: Jets W W9: Pats L W10: Bucs W W11: Panthers L W12: Bills W W13: Pats L W14: Jags L W15: Titans W W16: Texans L W17: Steelers L
Yah six wins I don't see that I see them beating the Jaguars, the Texans, and Falcons.
The Falcons are a top 10 team, and the Jags will be better this year. The reason they sucked last year was that their O-line was destroyed by injuries. The Texans have a great offense with Schaub,Slaton, and Andre Johnson. Their defense is going to be better this year with the addition of Cushing.
Ok first off Matt Schaub will be out with an injury by now so that'll take the Texans out, the Jags could win but sometimes they find ways to beat themselves, and Falcons well anything can happen and the Dolphins could win. Don't forget the Dolphins have a pretty good defense too with Joey Porter.

The reason he got hurt last year was because that scumbag Jared Allen kept hitting him in the knees. It took about 3 tries for Allen to finally injure Scaub, so he isn't as fragile as you think. It took one shot on Tom Brady. Plus don't say someone is going to get injured. You could say the same thing for any team in the NFL. The Jags have one of the best Offenses in the game today. Remember when it was healthy? Ya it lead the Jags to the divisional playoffs. Their team was destroyed by injuries. They lost Maurice Williams,Rashean Mathis,Vince Manuwai,Chris Naeole, etc. Williams,Manuwai, and Naeole are some of best O-line men in the game today. Losing Mathis really hurt them on defense too. The Falcons have a top 10 offense. Matt Ryan, Michael Turner,Roddy White, and a great O-line. Their D can be average because their Offense is so strong. It will be better with the addition of Peria Jerry.
Ok so am I supposed to change my opionion on that nope not happening and if you remember also that Andre Johnson has had a knee injury in the past that kept him out half the season two years ago. The Texans are just another eight and eight team that will once again miss out on the playoffs. The Falcons are very good but like the Cowboys just because you have the best talent doesen't mean you are going to win all the time. Now to the Jaguars they lost Fred Taylor to the Patirots, Maurice Jones-Drew hasn't always been the main man he has always split carrys with Taylor. Do you think that fatigue could possilby be a problem for him down the line? I do, I don't think that he'll do well by week 13 on.

He looked fine last year Bob. I'm pretty sure it didn't affect him. The reason the Texans can't make the playoffs is they play in a tough division. Last year two teams from that division made the playoffs, and the year before that 3 teams did. You just said that ''The Falcons are very good'', and what you said could happen, but since you aren't a fortune teller, you don't know that for sure. Fred Taylor is washed up. He isn't the player he used to be. Fatigue? You do know he isn't a rookie? He has been in the NFL 3 years. Just because you don't play every down doesn't mean your stamina is weak.
