Has anyone actually seen a game at the New Yankee Stadium.
There's several things you'll notice about the place as compared to last year.
The park tries to combine the best of modern times with the glorious Yankee past, and is truly one of the most beautiful new ballparks I've ever seen.
There's also one other thing you might notice about the place.
THE PLACE IS HALF EMPTY!!!!
The total attendance for today's game was listed as being a little over 43,000, but when I see entire seating sections completely empty, and were not even out of the 5th, I have a hard time believing that total.
And even if those jacked up attendance totals are correct, the Yankees are still about 10,000 fans on average below what they drew last year, and that's taking into account opening day.
Attendance is also down all across baseball as well.
The Yankees are still leading the league in attendance at around 44,700 per game but last year that would have only been good enough for 4th.
It's still early but I'd expect to see some ticket prices start to drop pretty quickly if attendance keeps falling like this, and that's still even after most teams either froze or dropped ticket prices from last year.
So far on average attendance for MLB games is down 8% from last year.
I was at the Sunday and Tuesday night game and it is a sad sight to see. While the Stadium is beautiful, they are just taking their fans to the max with how much things are. Beer $10, Small fries $5, A regular sized hot dog that was cold as **** $5.
Well here's the problem with the stadium their highest seat is 2600 dollars they beat the MEts that have the second highest seat by a good 1900 dollars. Just because your the Yankees doesn't mean you try to cheat the working man out of these insane prices.

What your missing here is that New York City is a business city. We have bleepin wall street in the area. So the reason why those seats are so bleepin high is because they figured the business people of NYC would take clients to the games. Which is USUALLY the norm (hence usually...but in this economy usually is now a forbidden word).
I believe I discussed in a post a couple months back saying that MLB would be the first real effected sports league by the economy. Are you believing me yet? Attendance in all the ball parks is down.
P.S. CO - Some Yankee fans aren't responsible. Not all. Some.
Well if it weren't economic times that were down in the dumps then yah that would normally work but since it isn't good then guess what people won't be paying those prices for seats.
