Albert Haynesworth hit the free-agent jackpot Friday morning by reaching agreement on a seven-year, $100 million deal with the Washington Redskins that could end up maxing out at $115 million based on his performance, according to sources.

The deal, which was reached early Friday morning, includes $41 million in guarantees. During the first 13 months of the contract, Haynesworth will earn approximately $32 million.
A news conference is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET at Redskins Park.
Haynesworth was bombarded with opportunities when free agency started a minute after midnight ET Friday. More teams contacted him than expected. During the first hour, Haynesworth had at least six teams willing to give him more than $30 million in guarantees.
He and his agent, Chad Speck, spent several hours reviewing the opportunities before making a decision. The final choices came down to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the team that had the most cap room in free agency, and the Redskins, the team that was the most aggressive.
The Tennessee Titans, the team Haynesworth played for in his first seven NFL seasons, never came close to signing him. A franchise player whose trip to the Pro Bowl prohibited the Titans from renewing the franchise tag in 2009, Haynesworth had hoped the Titans would offer him a deal that would have kept him off the free-agent market. That offer never materialized, even though the team kept talking to him until the start of free agency.
Haynesworth's deal with the Redskins is one of the richest in the history of the league.
Haynesworth led the Titans with a career-high 8½ sacks last season. He also had 75 tackles, 22 quarterback pressures, seven tackles for a loss and forced a team-high four fumbles.

What are your thoughts? Is this a good deal for the Redskins? Would you pay this much money for Albert Haynesworth?
Being a Redskins fan it is a great signing! Their 5th ranked defense from last year will only get better....I so however question paying DeAngelo Hall 54 million over 6 years
I don't think they are going to have a top 5 D because Haynesworth has a history of only doing good in contract years. Which means he doesn't go 100% every game.
BBall it was DeAnelo Hall was doing better with the Redskins than with the Raiders. This will help the Redskins dominate the D line making them a better team on defense.

Baja none of these players are worth the money. I keep going on and sayin that football players and many other sports players make way to much money for what they do.

Well its a typical move of the Skins. They sign soemone to a big contract and then they end up sucking. I think this one might accutaly help them. Deangelo Hall not as much i don't think. Now why dosn't Haynesworth give some of the money he's getting to the Goverment to help get the economy back up

Haha he'll do that when he buys like a bentley or something like that. He will also have to increase his production this year to somehow for the Skins. He needs to have around 10 sacks instead of 8.5 sacks like he had last year. The Titans had Kyle Vanden Bosch to help get pressure off Haynesworth now he'll attract more double team.

Haynesworth will definitely help Jason Taylor and Andre Carter on the edges but another signing I really like is G Derrick Dockery. He comes back to Washington after being released by Buffalo. He was the highest paid G in the league when he signed with the Bills. This will help shore up a suspect offensive line for the skins. With their pick in the draft they could get an OT this will be a very good upcoming season for the Redskins
even though they signed 2 great linemen, i still think the redskins are missing something. idk what that is but they need to make one or 2 more big moves to be an NFC contender
Another big move sorda, depends on what you think of this guy, the New York Giant sign Rocky Bernard the seven year vet of the Seattle Seahawks, comments thoughts?

yeah really i mean he has tried this before, spending tons of money, and for 0 championships. they gave up 2 draft picks for jason taylor, who isnt even with the team anymore
Yah he was you call a players owner he pays a lot more than you are worth. This is a good move but I see Albert Haynesworth being the most riskiest pick of the free agency only for the reason not many people make 100 million dollars over 7 years. He in his career only has 23.5 sacks thats not worth 100 million dollars.
