Crabtree to miss 6-10 weeks...do you still draft him?

Texas Tech Wide Reciever Michael Crabtree, a sure first round pick has now been diagnoised with a stress fracture in his foot that will cause him to miss 6-10 weeks. Despite having the stress fracture Crabtree will still run the 40 yard dash at the combine delaying his surgery till March 26th.

With that being said, you are the GM of your favorite team or top ten draft pick team (Make sure you say which team you are "GM" of). Do you still draft Crabtree knowing that he will probably be surveying your sidelines more then he will on the field come 2009. And do you still think he is worthy of a First Round pick now?

If I were the Gm of the Seattle Seahawks he is still the guy I want to draft. He is still the best reciever out the group and this is a little set back and he will be a dominant force in the NFL whereever he goes.

Maybe the Seahawks have about some of the dumbest front office people in the league if you ask me, except for teams like the Lions, the Raiders, the Chiefs, and the Cowboys.

Whenever you draft a player the number one question should be where do you see this guy in three years?

If you don't think the foot injury will effect the performance is his third year, you take him.

The draft is about building for the future, not winning now.

Um pmoehrin I hate to tell you this but out here in Seattle they need to win now and thats how it has to be. The Seahawks are dropping in ticket prices. Season tickets have gone down trememdously. With Crabtree its a little set back, he'll be fine when he gets to training camp and he most likely will be the third reciever for the Seahawks behind Branch and Engram.

I think Seattle will still get him cuz of his capability of catching balls and i kind of compare him to a Calvin Johnson when he was in GT able to catch and run. and Crabtree will prob. be healthy by Start of the Preseason, or maybe before that so i think seattle will still draft him, hes big, and he can catch.

Calvin Johnson was and is a much much better reciever than crabtree. And this injury isn't really that big of one. If Seattle was interested in getting him, then this injury should not change their mind.

Like I said before, if you need to win now the draft is a bad place to start.

How many guys in any given draft(s) are ready to contribute in a major role from day one?

I think drafting a guy just because of where you are this year financially is an incredibly short sided view.

And if you are in a situation where you feel the need to sacraficie your draft in order to save your franchise, I can tell you that A. it's probably not going to work because there is actually a very low correlation between winning games and revenue and B. I can assure you your problems aren't because of the guys on the field.

However all 32 teams in the NFL at least for the time being do not have these issues, because all of them are still making money.

Only league right now that's really hurting from this crunch is the NHL.

I wouldn't say every other league isn't effected, but no team is in danger of going out of business or being moved either mostly or solely because of the financial crunch.

Closest I'd say is Buffalo right now, but talks would be around them moving regardless of whether or not this crunch happened.

Your right on that part, but the Seahawks are desperate and they trying about everything to get back in it.

I think that they should probaly draft a QB or get rid of Matt Hasselback because his production as a QB has fallen and he has been an injury proned QB. Sennaca Wallace is a good QB but I don't think that he could lead a team into the playoffs.

I'm gonna play the opposite point here and say the tricky thing is the type of injury it is. Stress fractures ofthe feet can hamper a player even after surgery. They commonly pop back up. So do you want to pay a guy that kind of money if he has an injury that might plague him throughout his career. On the flip side, if he drops to number 10; the Niners better take him.
