Well i started one of these posts with the yankees and a lot of people responded so i'll try with another team... the one team i wouldn't mind seeing fall and die in a hole... the cubs. Do they have enough to win the NL central? The NL? The W.S? will they ever win the world series?
i think the cubs have enough talent to win it all this year. they had the best record in the NL last year, but choked in the playoffs against the dodgers. the cubs have the talent to win the NL central but it will come down to how they perform in the playoffs.
The Cubs are a good team in the regular season and they just flat out choke in the playoffs. They led the NL with wins in the regular season and make an early exit in the playoffs to the Dodgers. The Cubs are a good team with Alfonso Soriano and Derek Lee in hitting, and in pitching they got Big Z and Ryan Dempster. I see them making the NLCS and then losing to the Mets this year.

Oh Bob, how you amuse me. You call the Cubs chokers(I agree), then say they'll lose to the Mets in the NLCS. Do you realize that the Mets are even bigger chokers than the Cubs?
Anyway, guys I'm sad to see go, Kerry Wood(can't wait til June when the Indians play at Wrigley), Mark DeRosa(Can't wait til June when the Indians play at Wrigley), Hank White(Easily the most legendary baseball player ever), and Felix Pie, (he is named after a delicious dessert). Guys I'm glad to see go, Jason Marquis(Can't come in as a Cardinal and wear Sammy Sosa's number. Thankfully Sammy got revenge and hit number 600 off him), Jim Edmonds(Was always kinda awkward seeing him in Cubbie Blue), Bob Howry(He single-handedly got the Brewers into the Playoffs), and the Tribune Co.(Seriously? All these years and no pennants? Seriously?)
Guys I'm glad they got, Milton Bradley(Umm, did anyone hear anything about him last year, not regaurding his league-leading OBP? Didn't think so, people need to stop thinking he's gonna go crazy), Luis Vizcaino(Hey, he can't be worse than Bob Howry), and Aaron Miles(Hopefully, please god, let this be the guy the finally gets Soriano's 2 playoff hits total in two seasons out of the lead-off spot). Guys I'm not glad they got, Kevin Gregg(Kevin Gregg?? Really?? That's how you replace Kerry Wood?? With Kevin Gregg??), and Garrett Olson(I don't care how good of a prospect he's supposed to be, if he's not gonna get us Jake Peavy, then what's the point?)
GO CUBS GO!!

As a Cub fab, i dont know how I feel about this team. They should easily win the Nl Central this year because everyone else in the division. i didnt like the Milton bradley signing because he plays crappy defense plus he never stays healthy when he is in the field. I hated losing keery Wood and Mark deosa. thank god Bob howry is gone, even though he does pitch good every other year and this would be a good year. jason marquis is only good as a number five starter and the Rockies have him as their number 3....good luck Colorado fans. I love Soriano but Id love him more as a number 6 hitter not the lead off guy. I do like that we will have Rich Harden for a full season( provided he stays healthy). The top 4 of the rotation is the best in the NL. What other NL team can top Zambrano,Harden,Dempster and Lily. The biggest ifs are can carlos marmol be the full time closer? Can kevin gregg and jeff Smarzdja become great set up men? Can Sean marshall or garret Olson step up into the number five starter spot? can bradley stay healthy and provide the Cubs with the left habnded bat theyve needed for the last 5 years?

Steve you're really that upset about getting kevin gregg?? With howry not doing well last year and gregg doing a solid job in florida i would think cub fans would be happy.
Steven as a Mets fan all I can do is hope. The Mets have been their for the last two years and they have found away to lose the N.L. East lead to the Phillies. This is a sad part of the Mets, their pitching down the line just gave out for them. The Cubs are a good team, but come on they lost to the Dodgers, they only have Manny Ramierez and James Either. The Cubs pretty much just gave the series to the Dodgers. The Cubbies this year will do better than the first round, but when they get close to winning the N.L.C.S then something will come up and the Cubs will find away to lose the series and go to 101 years without a World Series ring.

Ok, just making sure you recognize that the Mets are even bigger chokers than the Cubs. And the Dodgers hitters had little to do with the Cubs losing to them. The Cubs lost to them because we had no lefty power bats to go against the Dodgers strong right-handed rotation.
And Cheesy, the reason i don't really like that they got Kevin Gregg is because they got him to take Kerry Wood's spot, not Bob Howry's spot. That and he went 7-8 last year, that's way too many decisions for a closer. That means he blew a lot of saves. Hopefully he's an alright set-up guy.
And the Cubs just lost the most legendary player ever when Hank White signed with the Padres. What are they gonna do without him?

I don't know well one of my favorite moments of Kevin Gregg was seeing him in the minor leagues with the Salt Lake Sting. He did really good when I saw him. Then he got called up to the Angels and thats where his story began.

So the Cubs just traded the Miner League Hall of Famer Ronny Cedeno and Garrett Olson to the Mariners for Aaron Heilman. Last year it was Omar Infante, this year it's Garret Olson. Both came to the Cubs in an off-season trade, and both guys got traded about a week after. And they trade for a guy who was part of the worst bullpen in the league last season? Welcome back to the Cubs, Bob Howry.

yeah I really dont get this trade. they need bullpen help, but i dont think your going to get it from a guy like Heilman who had over a 5.00 era last year
I say the cubs make the playoffs this year. They will miss DeRosa a good amount and his flexibility. They have a chance to win it but i think they will lose to the Arizona Dimondbacks in the playoffs.

when they got Olson I was hoping he would be part of the Peavy trade but instead we get Heilman...wow...talk about your disappointment....Im looking for the cute blonde and I get a dude in a blonde wig instead.

Wow man, that truly was an amazing way to put that. As a fellow Cubs fan, that is exactly how I feel. Oh and they just signed Paul Bako. So they get rid of the most amazing baseball player ever, Hank White, and bring back Paul Bako?? Sad.

He has a travelling fan club called "The Hank White Fan Club". For those of you who don't know who he is. The best way of putting it is that he's the Chuck Norris of baseball. Hank White is the only person to ever hit a 5-run Homer. I once saw him lead-off an inning with a Grand Slam.

Roger Hornsby had a career batting average of .358 and he was the only player in MLB history to hit .400 and 40 homeruns in 1922. Roger also won six National League htting titles and he won two Tripple Crown titles thats pretty impressive, he also led the league nine years in Slugging percentage.

Or you can put Ty Cobb in front of Hank WHite, or even Tony Gwynn Jr. So as you can see your most legendary player could be beat by atleast a couple of guys.

Dude you really don't get it do you? Hank White is a legend. Like I said, he is the Chuck Norris of baseball. I saw him throw guys out at third base and second base at the same time.

Good for him Steve, you feel more attached to this guy than I do for sure. Its like me and Tim Duncan you can say some one is better than him and I will disagree and drive you up a awall telling you why i think he is better than that player.
