Right now, there are a handful of teams without a head coach. More pink slips are likely to come. there have been coaches fired from their previous job to interview with another team. the browns signed mangini.
List of teams currently without a head coach: Jets Colts (pending) Broncos Raiders Chiefs (pending) Lions Rams
I think Josh McDaniels would be a really good fit in Denver. It doesn't really matter who the Lions hire. He'll just get fired in about 3 years cause the team has no talent. Same goes for whoever the Raiders hire, except he wont make it 3 years.

Brian Billick would be great in Oakland Josh McDaniels in Denver Jim Schwartz in St. Louis Steve Spagnolo in Detroit Kirk Ferentz in Kansas City (if Pioli gets the GM job) Mike Shananon in New York
Kansas City already has a new GM, doesn't it? And besides, no way Ferentz goes there. I would love him to, cause I hate Iowa, but he won't.
As a Bears fan, I would be for them firing Lovie just to get Mike Shannahan. Him and Matt Forte together would be incredible. But that won't happen, cause the Bears are too committed to the coaches, no matter how retarded their play calls may be(Ron Turner).

So what about Josh McDaniels going to coacht he Broncos? A surprise to anyone? It was one to me. I was watching ESPNews and they were talking about how this wont help them because he is an offensive cordenator and their offense is just fine their Defense is the main problem. They would have been better off getting rex Ryan or Spagnolu

Not a surprise at all. Me and a guy I work with always talk sports, and we both said after Shannahan got fired that Josh McDaniels would be a great fit for them. So I was actually kind of expecting it.

it looks like tennessee defensive coordinator jim schwartz is the brave soul who is going to be the new head coach of the lions. good move? bad move? hows it gonna work out?
First off He isn't the best defensive coordinator, that would be Rex Ryan and Steve Spagnoluo and seconldy it would be a great fit because of what he could do with the LIons. They need help on defense and he will help them.

I really think this is the smartest move the lions could have made other than maybe Steve Spagnolo or Rex Ryan. That defense is terrible and bringing in a former defenseve cordinator that was very good is a very smart move

First off, Steve Spagnola is way overrated. He's only been a DC for 2 seasons and he just got his team on a hot streak at the right time last year. Jim Schwartz is a great fit forthe Lions. he has learned under one the the greatest head coaches of all time, Jeff Fisher, for many years now. He will provide the Lions with stabilty, something they haven't had since the days of barry Sanders and Wayne Fontes.
As for the rest of the carousel, this is how I see it shaking out....
Raiders--Jim Fassel or Kevin Gilbride Rams--Jason Garrett Jets--Jon Gruden (he tried to get favre to the Bucs last season).
and if the Chiefs let go of Herm Edwards, i think they make a run at Shanahan. If not, then the Ferentz choice is a good fit.

Woh thats not true you talk about an overated coordinator talk about Jason Garrett, he is a crappy coordinator he said he couldn't deal with TO, how can you be a coach if you can't deal with players. Second off notice since Tony Sporano left that Jason Garrett and his offense has slided. Tony played a giant role in the playcalling.

Man i think one of the more surprisiing firings now was John Gruden. I thought the Bucs would keep him even though he didn't really do anything after one year

Yea Spagnola is overrated. And I don't get how you can even have the conversation about the D-Coordinator without mentioning Ron Rivera. He had one of the best defenses in league two years in a row in 05 and 06 with the Bears. Then he got promoted midseason to take over as the Chargers DC and the Chargers D the second half of the season improved a ton. And since leaving the Bears the defense has been nothing but sloppy, but I like to blame that mostly on the Bears DC Bob Babich. He got the job as what I like to call a Wavey Wendall Situation. For those of you who don't understand, which is probly all of you, when Dusty baker was the Cubs Manager, he hired a guy named Wendall Kim to be his third base coach. The only reason Kim got the job was because he was good friends with Dusty. After about 2 games he got the nickname Wavey Wendall because he would just keep his arm swinging, sending runners all the time. I saw a time when the runner wasn't even to third yet, the outfielder had the ball in his glove, and Wavey Wendall still sent the guy. So now, whenever a coach hires one of his good friends to be a coach, like in the case of Bob Babich, I call it the Wavey Wendall Situation.

thats not entirely true. although he won the super bowl with tony dungys players he has made the playoffs with his own. plus he was a win away this year from making the playoffs
