"EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Minnesota's sputtering offense could be without its biggest star against Carolina on Sunday.
Running back Adrian Peterson, the NFL's leading rusher and the 2007 offensive rookie of the year, missed practice on Thursday with a hamstring injury. Peterson said he is hopeful he can play against the Panthers, but it was a step back, one day after participating in practice on a limited basis.
"It's a concern," coach Brad Childress said. "Your legs are your legs. We'll just see how he comes out by the time we get to Sunday."

Jeff's Thoughts: Obviously one of the most favored teams in the NFC going into this season are not having the type of season they wanted to start out with. Starting the year (0-2) with many people picking you to win the NFC North and some even picking you to win the NFC Championship I'm sure is not the way Coach Brad Childress wanted to begin this season.
With many high expectations it appears the Vikings maybe in urgency mode going into Week 3 as they will start Gus Ferrotte for the rest of the season barring any problems. With the move this week it appears that Tavaris Jackson's career in Minnesota may all be done, sad thing to see for a Quarterback with a ton of potential.
Now with the news of Adrian Peterson possibly sitting out Week 3 with a injured hamstring it may be only a matter of time when the Vikings throw in the towel on this season and prepare for the next. They take on a re-surging Carolina team in a Week 3 matchup at home as it will also serve as a "welcome back" party for suspended reciever Steve Smith. Delhomme will have a ton of weapons on Sunday with Smith back in the mix making it very tough on the Minnesota secondary.
I'm taking Carolina in this Week 3 matchup, there are to many intangables right now affecting the Minnesota team. If the Vikings fail this season be prepared to witness the exit of Coach Brad Childress.
Fantasy Analysis: If it is the case Adrian Peterson does not play this Week, Fantasy Owners beware. It appears the #1 and #2 draft picks in most Fantasy Football drafts this year (L.T. & Adrian Peterson) may possibly be out for this Week and maybe more depending on the severity of their injury. It's very surreal to see how important the Drafts in Fantasy Football truly can be as possibly Three First Rounders (L.T., Adrian Peterson & Tom Brady) will either be out for sometime or in the case of Tom Brady out for the season.
Keep an eye on Vikings second string running back Chester Taylor this week to fill your hole on the offensive side of your team if Adrian Peterson or L.T. should go down.
you know what though even though Adrian Peterson might be out Chester Taylor is a good running back and there offense of line is really good. Look for Chestor Taylor to have a break out day if he plays.
