It's all-star time and it feels like it's 2003 again

Right now the big story heading into the all-star game is two players Allen Iverson, and Tracy McGrady.

Currently Iverson is averaging just under 15 points, and around 4.5 assits per game in the 18 games he's played so far this year.

Meanwhile McGrady has only played in six games this year, and hasn't played double digit minutes in any of them.

Normally you would be lucky to even be on the ballot with numbers like that, but because of their play five+ years ago, both are now looking at potentially starting in the NBA all-star game.

I'm kind of torn on this issue myself.  On one hand the game is for the fans, so why shouldn't they pick who's in, and who's not.

On the other hand though, there's no way you can justify either one of these guys even coming close to going to the all-star game with the numbers they've put up.  McGrady has barely even played.

If I were David Stern I would recommend to both Iverson and McGrady to sit out the game.

I understand there are fans who want to see both of them, but true basketball fans I think would much rather see someone like Brandon Roy or Rajon Rondo in the game, both of whom are far more deserving of making the team based on their performance this year, and both of whom may not make the team in part because of this ballot stuffing.

The only counter I could see to that argument would be that the game's ratings would suffer if TMac and Iverson weren't in the game, but I don't see that happening.

Popular as he may be, his numbers aren't even close to what David Lee is putting up, and I doubt we'll see him even as a reserve.

I wasn't saying that Lee didn't deserve it.

The West to to laded. I mean there are so many guys out tere tht could sart in the all star game that aren't. Durant, Rudy Gay, Zach Randolph, Chris Paul, OJ Mayo. The east was a little closer i think Ray Allen should be starting over AI. Iverson has no right to be starting and i think you could make a case KG doesn't deserve it for the time hes missed. Shaq won't be a back up. I believe it will go to David lee if the coaches are smart enough to notice he deserves it. The only thing with Iverson is he most likely won't even play in the dam game.

This was such a crap vote by the fans. It always seems they like to vote for the perennial guys (Duncan, Nash, KG, AI) when there are much more deserving people. Im not saying they dont belong but they definitely better options out there. I think they could have gone Chris Paul over Nash, Zach Randolph over Duncan, Chris Bosh over KG, and Joe Johnson over AI.

You can also make an argument that Josh Smith could make the All Star team for the east. He is having a good season as well.

I think he will be a snub. Much like Gerald Wallace.

Wallace or Jackson will amke it. Someone off the Bobcats deserves it they are such an improved team.

PF i see what you mean with Paul over Nash but Nash is havign an MVP type season so far and paul missed a month with an ankle injury. That hurt him some. I love watching both fo them play but i mean the way nash is playing he deserved to get the start
