Is Pete Rose's lifetime ban over?

Bud Selig is considering lifting Pete Rose's lifetime ban from baseball.

This comes after Rose published a book admitting that he had bet on the game of baseball and he apologized for it.

If Rose were to become eligible, he would have to be voted into the Hall of Fame by the 65 living members who make up the Veterans Committee.

Hank Aaron said "He needs to be part of this Hall Of Fame, he belongs there"

So I have two questions for you today.

Will Bud reinstate Rose?

And

If Reinstated, will he make the Hall Of Fame

I believe he will be reinstated and that he should be put in the hall of fame. Of all guys he needs to be in there but if the ban isn't taken off he won't get in and he deserves it

I always thought it was a damn shame that the guy who has the most hits in the history of your sport is not and can not be in the Hall of Fame.

I've always likened the Rose situation to the Watergate scandal.

It's not the crime that has people so upset it's the blatant cover up of it.

While it's true Rose never against his own team, only for them, there were days when he didn't bet for them.  That meant he had a financial incentive to win certain games over others.  That meant he could have altered the bullpen to try harder to win games or hold leads which may have been detrimental to the team in the long run depending on the situation.

Still it's probably not the worst thing  in the world and probably didn't cost the Reds much.  Had he just come out and admitted it right from the get go, he would have probably been suspended but his dignity would have still be in tact.  What did he do instead?

He denied continuously for months even in the face of overwhelming evidence that said he did.  (If you ever actually have the time to read the Dowd report, it's available online the evidence against him is simply damning.  People in this country have been convicted on one tenth of the evidence Dowd had against Rose.)

Even when people who didn't like each other and had no reason to work with each other were testifying against him, Rose still denied it claiming it was all a scheme to get back at him.

Rose figured there was no way Major League Baseball could blackball one of it's greatest players, and therefore rules like that didn't apply to him.

Unfortunately for Rose he overplayed his hand immensely.  But even if he did, when he finally came out and admitted he bet on the game it was all done to sell a book.

Reinstate him or not it really doesen't matter to me.  You can't take away what he did on the field as one of the greatest players to ever play the game, but you also can't take away the fact that he is one of the most pathetic and shallow minded individuals the game has ever seen.

Whether he's in the Hall of Fame or not my opinion of him will remain the same.

Right as of now he will probaly most likely not be reinstated even after Hank Aaron said that he should be. Bottomline is he should be reinstated but because of his past errors it seems that Bud Selieg will honor the wishes of the past commissoner that banned him for life.

In my mind the baseball HOF will be a joke until Pete Rose is in there. Yes, he bet on baseball, but is that any worse then people taking roids and HGH? I think not. He honestly did not alter the game. He just made himself some money on the side.

On a side not...in the middle of June I went to Las Vegas and was walking thru the mall attached to Caesars Palace and I walked by a Sports Memorabilia store and there was a big sign saying Pete Rose Here today. So I walked in, and there he sat getting ready to sign autographs and stuff. He had a little TV setting beisde of him. Can anyone guess what he was racing? HORSE RACING. I just thought it was kind of funny. ButPete Rose is the man.
