Pirates and Nats Should Fold? and Poll of the Day - 7/26/09

Well it looks like the Pirates and Nats don't want to win for a long time.

Pirates are basically having a garage sale with their star players

While the Nats need everything that will help them. They have the best prospect the MLB will ever see, but whats the use when you can't sign him.

My question is

Should teams like this just fold when theres no point for them.

~credit goes to pmoehrin for original idea

I say the Nats should. The Pirates shouldn't shut down. The Pirates might be able to turn things around sometime if they can get some better pitching. It might take a few years ut this is a young talented team. The Nats have nothing. No hope no nothing they can just shut it down today and no one would notice

Why should the Pirates fold they have had great history back in the day in the seventies. That's like asking if the Lions should fold because of all their problems. The Nats on the other hand is a different case, coming from the Expos they have had nothing but losing season after losing season. The Nats are about as good as when the Mets first started out, and everbody knows about the 1962 Mets season, and how bad they were. The Nats are in need of desperate talents. They need to get rid of a lot of there guys and start pretty much from the ground up again.

I think the biggest problem with the Nationals is inept ownership more then anything.

The guy that owns the team Ted Lerner is in his mid 80's.

The Nationals are still making money despite what people may think.  They just have some old geezer sitting at the top owning the team purely for profit, and the only way the Nationals are ever going to be taken seriously is if either A. he sells the team, or B. he dies.

No. Because if they fold it takes away about 12-15 wins for the Cubs each year.

Well i don't think the MLB and any of us care about the cubs as much as you do so those 12-15 games they can buck it up buttercup and win against good teams
