Free Agency

Ben Gordon goes the the Pistons along with Charlie "Twittering at Halftime" Villanueva. Both these deals were said to be five years with Gordons being around 55 Mill and Villanueva's being around 50 mill or more.

The Lakers signed Ron artest to a five year deal that is somewhere in the range of 32 mill a year which is the maximum MLE. Also the Rockets after losing Artest stole Ariza from the lakers for five years and around 32 mill just like artest the maximum MLE deal possible.

I'm hearing Hedo Turkoglu is close to a deal with the Trail Blazers and Marchin Gortat and Rasheed Wallace both have been offered contracts by the Dall Mavs and Boston Celtics respectively.

Also Reports are saying the Knicks are offering Jason Kidd a three year deal that might bring him to New York and if Lebron does sign with them next year would put a dam good point guard and the best player in the league together

Hedo Turkglu given them veteran leadership on a team already loaded with young talent.

If Greg Oden can stay healthy, and if the Blazers can find a way of holding on to both Brandon Roy, and LeMarcus Aldridge, we could be looking at the team of the future in the Western Conference.

Not only that but Portland also has a very deep bench with guys like Rudy Fernandez, and Travis Outlaw, guys who could be potentially offered as trade bait if Portland wants to get another superstar compliment to Brandon Roy.

Look out for the Pistons to make the biggest impact in free agency. They have the most amount of money in the league and are showing interests in other players.

Well the pistons already spent a good chunk of their money on Gordon and Villanueva.

Now the latest i am hering on Turkoglu is he had a greed to terms with the Blazers then hours later pulled a Billy Donnavan and decided to go play for the Raptors who gave him a 5 year deal in the ranges of 52-55 mill. Now free agents can't sign contracts untill Wedensday when the Cap is announced so their might be some other moves of players saying there going here but going somewhere else

the latest bigger name guy i've heard something about is the Hawks have offerd PG Mike Bibby a three year deal to remain with the team. He's still got something left and they need to keep Marvin Williams also to keep that good young team together cause they can be a force in the east with all of them together again.

Boston Celtics are now the favoirte to win the NBA Championship in my opionion with a signing of Rasheed Wallace. This helps them out a bunch he can shoot threes and hit them at will. He is a tempered player but he always is able to help your team. Great signing by the Celtics.

Yes well they already had some depth with Eddie House, Glen Davis, and Leon Powe but now they add Rasheed Wallace wow that is something. Hedo is decison to sign with the Raptors not the best desicion on his behalf. Bosh will leave next year and it'll be all chaos down there. The Raptors will lose a lot of games next year and to be honest I don't think they will make the playoffs for a long time to come. The Trail blazers have much upside and Hedo made a big mistake.

Boston will sign them and most of these guys are restricted free agents so they'll be back with Boston. Hedo should've some how found a way to stay with the Magic because now the Magic just got worse. Vince Carter is gonna make the team worse just because of the fact he'll want the ball way more than any other person on the team. He will clash with Dwight Howard on ball issues.

Really they didn't give up much for R Jeff.

So the latest rumor is Shawn Marion going to the Mavs in a four team sign and trade deal that would include the Griz and another team to be named.

The Cavs resigned Anderson "Queen of Flopping" Varajo to a six year deal

Its' official the Mavericks got Shawn Marion and this could help them out spread the floor for more for Dirk and Josh Howard.

I'm not so sure about it. Its going to cause a problem because Josh Howard and Shawn "The Matrix" Marion both play the Small Foward spot so my guess is that Howard would move down to the 2 if they wanted to start them both.

Carlos Boozer might be ont he move with a possible 3 team deal involving the Bulls, Blazers and Jazz. The Bulls would get Boozer, The Blazers would get Kirk Henrich and the Jazz would get Tyrus Thomas. I really don't understand why the Blazers are in this trade cause there not giving up anything

I like it. Granted we give up our only real replacement for Ben Gordon but we get rid of Mr. Inconsistant in Tyrus Thomas plus we clear up a ton of cap space to make room for a D-Wade homecoming in 2010.

I don't know about this if I'm Chicago.

And while Tyrus Thomas is certainly not as good as Carlos Boozer, he's still just 22, and he improved by leaps and bounds over last year.

I wouldn't call losing a 22 year old Power Forward who put up decent numbers last year getting rid of somebody, as much as it is losing an asset.

If they can get D-Wade the trade may be worth it, but that's a big if at this point.

When Boozer is healthy, he's solid, but he's only played 70+ games twice in the past five years, and Thomas will be at the very least a solid NBA starter, and could develop into an all-star level player.

The last trade the Bulls made involving a big man was sending Elton Brand to the Clippers for Brian Skinner, and Tyson Chandler, and that turned out to be a huge bust, as the Bulls simply gave up on Chandler before he had a chance to prove himself, while Brand had a few all-star seasons with the Clippers.

I could really see Chicago making the exact same mistake by giving up on Tyrus Thomas so soon for a win now player, when they aren't ready to win now.

Like I said before though, if they can get Wade the trade might be worth it, but Wade himself has had injury problems, and it's going to take alot for him to bolt Miami.

I know fans in Chicago are becoming starting to become impatient, but they still have a very good young team, even without Gordon, but they just need time to learn how to win.

I'd leave the roster as for at least one more season before looking to make any big additions that may not even be necessary if I were John Paxson.  You still don't quite know how many of the Bulls prospects are actually going to pan out, but you're starting to get an idea.  They just need more time.

Portland gets a great deal getting a great back up player in Kirk Hinrich, the Trail Blazers are loaded this year and are gonna be really dangerous.

Well the Bulls did make the trade at the dead line last season to get big Man Brad Miller and SG John Salmons. I think its possible if tey have the money they will get D-Wade who would prolly love playing in his hometown.

Also the Magic finaly made a splash and went and got coveted free agent PF Brandon Bass to a four year deal worth around 18 mill. This is a great move it gives them some size and a tough guy at the four spot

Just a little FYI.. After the season the Bulls promoted John Paxson to Executive VP of Basketball Operations and promoted the Director of Player Personnel Gar Forman to GM.. So Forman is the one who puts all the trades and deals together and Paxson is the guy who has the final word on if it goes through or not..

Well the Suns resigned Grant Hill today and also signed Pf Channing Frye both to 2 year deals worth 3.8 mill.

And the Blazers offered a contract to PF Paul Millsap thats 4 years and somewhere between 32-36 mill

Pistons got a new coach in John Kuester, Cleveland's assistant coach.

Rumors are this could be a move to lure LeBron into the Motor City in 2010

It appears with the Blazers going after Milsap that the three team deal is now off.

It probably wasn't going to happen anyway, as the Blazers were unwilling to give up any young players in the deal, and Chicago wanted Jarryd Bayless in the deal.

It's probably a good thing for Chicago as I said before, they shouldn't give up on a guy like Tyrus Thomas simply to get an injury prone player and Boozer, and allow themselves for the possibility that Dwayne Wade may return to Chicago.  The last time Chicago built themselves for something like that was when they tried to get Kobe, and you saw how much it burned them.

The Bulls have a good team, and there's always stars who want out of where they are currently playing, so they could still potentially find a way to get Dwayne Wade or a similar player even if they don't sign him in free agency.

As for the LeBron going to Detroit I feel it's a bit of a long shot, but Detroit clearly doesen't feel so.

I said in another post that it doesen't matter what type of a team you have because no matter where LeBron goes they will be NBA title contenders within three years.

I just don't see what Detroit has to offer that New York or Cleveland doesen't already have.

I think the move was done more because if Detroit did hire Avery Johnson, Joe Dumars would wind up looking like an idiot especially if Avery did well considering he refused to hire him last year.

Dumars job could be in trouble though if Detroit continues to fall, as he's made alot of questionable moves lately (trading for Allen Iverson, firing Flip Saunders, drafting Darko over Carmelo) and you have to start wondering how much of the hype surrounding Joe Dumars begin a great GM is really true at this point.

If Detroit doesen't make the playoffs this year, and they fail to significantly improve the team next offseason, I think Dumars will be gone.

I never really thought the three team trade would go down. I think the Blazers are set with their young guys for the years to come as long as they can hold on to them

Paul Milsap is a really good player and could help out the Blazers in many ways. Paul Milsap is a great player and is a good rebounder.

Yeah this would be a greta move by the Blazers if they do get him. But they have a problemt hen with big men. Cause Milsap will want to start and they already have Aldridge at the four witch is Milsaps spot and thye have Gerg Oden who will play the five if he's not hurt but Aldrige could play there so if they do get him then Milsap would be coming off the bench still.

Yah also Joel Pryziibilla would also want to start because he started a lot last year because of Greg Oden's slow inconsistancy and no progression.

If Millsaps does go to the Blazers, I could see Aldridge Starting at the 3. Granted he may not be able to defend anyone at that position, but That would make them very long with Oden, Milsaps and Aldridge in the front court.

It would make more sense to start Millsap at th three because he is a smaller guy and can defend that posistion better.

Also the Magic matched the cotract offer for Marchin Gortat so he'll be staying in Orlando for the next five years as Dwight howards back up

The only problem with Milsaps playing the 3 is the fact that I do not think he can score from the perimeter. He has to be inside. Plus keeping him inside allows him to rebound better. Remember, the dude led the NCAA in rebounding for THREE straight years. Dude can straight board. He has to be on the inside. Aldridge has the ability to strecth outside some.

Bob..I can not see paying someone that much money and then bring him off of the bench. Just my take.

However, the Jazz are supposed to be trying to get a loan inorder to have enough money to sign Millsaps, they are also still shopping Boozer to make room for him.
If they do match the offer sheet to Millsaps, then I can really see the Blazers making a run ar Lamar Odom.

Also the Cavs just signed Anthony Parker.

Yeah thats very true JC.

The Allen Iverson saga keeps growing as first it was he's going to the Griz. then he might be going to the Heat and those talks were very serious. Now the talks are serious that he is going to the Clippers! Dude pick a dam team cause your washed up and your going to hurt which ever team you go to anyway

True how about Marcin Gortat he's gettin payed 7 million next year by the Magic and he isn't to happy about the whole thing. He should be playing with the Mavericks and be starting now, but now unless the Magic shop him he will be be backing up for five years.

Not much has really happend this week other than the Magic matching Gortats sheet and the Vegas Summer league where we get outr first taste of Brandon Jennings, Hasheem Thabeet, Blake Griffen, and many more of the draft picks. But on the free agency side still really waiting to see if the Jazz can move Boozer to resign Millsap.

Latest into the 88DJRFan News Room is The Jazz matching the Blazers offer for Paul Millsap, Lamar odom to the Heat, Marquis Daniels going to Boston and PG CJ Watson coming here to Orlando

Cj Watson sucks so that's not anything, don't like the Marquis Daniels signing for Boston, but they are trying to add even more depth. Lamar Odom that is a great siging for the Heat because now the Lakers lose an important guy on their team. Paul Milsap got matched because he is the better of his youth and that he is gonna to put much more effort in a game than Carlos Boozer the loser.

Well they don't lose anything from Millsap to Boozer but Millsap is younger and he can shoot better than Boozer so i think that its a big thing. Watson might not be the best player ever but he'll be a solid 3rd point guard in orlando and he did average 10 a game last year plus a few assist and Rebounds

Boozer has a better shot than Milsap but Milsap has way more durabiltiy than Boozer and he has way more endurance. That's a major reason that the Jazz want to keep him. 3rd option means he won't play at all.

Good point that Boozer has a better shot than Millsap. Millsap is more of a guy who stays under the basketb gets the boards and plays very physical and just tries to dunk and get layups so the only real hting that could hurt them losing boozer is what if Millsap does get hurt for once then whos going to fill in for him.

Well if you ask me it'd be Matt Harping or they could move Kirlenko down to that positon. The reason I say Matt is because he is every coaches dream player, he does all the dirty work he is unselfish he rebounds, sets screens, and bangs down low, he is a Shane Battier or a Chuck Hayes kinda of player

Steve Nash is the best point guard in the league if you ask me, he can pass the best in the league he has a killer three point shot and he play's great defense. Great deal for the SUns this guy makes everyone better on your team and he is one of the finest players you can have in the league.

Nash hasnt been much of a shooter lately which doesnt really make him the best point gaurd in the league. I have to give that title to Chris Paul
