NBA Finals

The finals matchup is set. The Orlando Magic vs The Kobe Bryants i mean the LA Lakers. This should be a great series and i hope the NBA relizes they got the best matc up here instead of Lebron vs Kobe which they wanted oh so bad. The Magic Swept the season series with the Lakers 2-0 but that was with Jameer Nelson who was the leadsing scorer in both games but it out unless he decides to play which would be huge for the Magic. The Key to winning the series for the Magic is play their game and play good Defense on Kobe. The Lakers it depsned on which team shows up in which game. The lakers had the easier path to the Finals going through the Jazz in five in round one, Rockets in seven (somehow) in round two and The Nuggets in six in the conference finals. The magic had the tougher road beating the sixers in six then the defending champs Boston in seven tough games and then the NBA's best record and MVP and coach of the Year Cavs in six. I'm taking the Maigc in the upset in six

I'm taking the Magic in seven because when it comes down to it the Magic are playing better than the Lakers are and the Lakers lost to the Magic twice in the regular season so I think that the Magic find a way to pull it out in seven.

I'm taking the Lakers in 6. They'll go up 3-1 then Orlando will squeak one out but eventually the Lakers will win it. Phil Jackson will get one for his (other)thumb. And Kobe will get his 5th ring. I know what you're thinking, "Uh, Mr. MJ31, Kobe only has three rings." Wrong. I'm counting the one he gave his wife because that was a personal championship for him. He got away with raping a white girl and his wife still loves him.

I'm kind of taking pleasure in seeing LeBron out of the Finals.

I have nothing against Cleveland or LeBron, I just like seeing how pissed ESPN is that they didn't get their LeBron Kobe matchup.

Right now on ESPN's home page they don't even mention Orlando winning the title.  They just talk about where LeBron goes from here.

Even on SportsCenter I didn't see a single clip of Orlando celebrating.

Reminds me of how pissed they were last year when the Rays knocked out the Sox, and how happy they were when the Phillies won.

I think LA will win, but I'm pulling for Orlando.

As for ESPN, and virtually every other media outlet, that's what you get for playing favorites.

The only "Expert" out there that is going against LA is Charles Barkley and he's sticking with Orlando who he's picked all through out the playoffs. And this is coming from someone who is living down here in Orlando this place is rocking and we were partying untill after the bars closed at 2 AM. We are magic crazy and ready to bring the Lakers on and hopefully win. This is a big boost down here and having the magic be the only profesional sports team around the Orlando area it's huge having them win and them getting a New Arena set to open in 2010.

King Charles is a genius this guy knows what he's talking about. Kobe Bryant can't win without Shaq and he knows it so he'll go in play good normally but Gasol and Odom will be stopped by Dwight Howard.

The thing that is the most interesting to me is How will the lakers cover Dwight with Bynum, Gasol and even possibly Odom. The Cavs just plain couldn't match up with him which ended up killing them ins game six when Dwight scored 40. If they can contain him and get him in foul trouble the lakers will most likly win the series

Well to my surprise many people are taking the Magic to win and they got big news today finding out Jameer Nelson will be playing even if it's only back up min its still huge

Nice but remeber also that I would start Rafer Alston just because he has been hot and Jameer Nelson will probaly start out a bit rusty, so they should limit his minutes.

Oh yeah see. Nelson isn't starting either way. He'll only come off the bench and play maybe 10-15 min per game. Just mostly back up min but he can still give us some sort of impact.

Yes he will Jameer Nelson is a good point guard, I would like to see how Rafer takes on Derek Fisher the battle of the points guards could be a very key deciding factor in who wins this series.

Game one's in the books, although I didn't think the score was really reflective of what the outcome really entailed.

Orlando played very well from what I saw, and really shouldn't have been beaten by that much.

Problem was, everybody on the team with the exception of Mickael Pietrus shot atrocious.

As a team Orlando shot 29.9% from the floor.

That's not really what I would be worried about from Orlando's perspective.  The shooting will come around.  What worries me if I'm Stan Van Gundy was that my team got beat soundly in the paint.

The Lakers were plus 14 in the rebounding column.

For a team that is expecting Dwight Howard to be their driving force, this cannot happen again if Orlando is going to have a chance in this series.

For Orlando the rebounding differential was the result of one of three things.

1. They didn't play hard enough.

2. The Lakers are simply a better and more physical team then the Magic.

3. Orlando's gameplan didn't prepare themselves properly for the Lakers.

For the Magic's sake they better hope it was either one or three.

I wanna change my prediction to Lakers in 4. Kobe and Phil are gettin out there brooms and preparing to sweep. Hey Shaq(whose team didnt come close tothe playoffs), how does Kobe's ass taste?

Steven I love people that do this, they see one bad game and they just rush to think that it's going to be a sweep odds are that your way wrong. The Magic played poorly, they couldn't hit a shot but do you think that will happen in game two. NO not at all this won't happen because they will hit their shots. The Magic played poor defense and thats part of the game. Stan Van Gundy will make defensive improvements to the gameplan so the Magic are in good shape, its not time to panic.

Really the main problem for the Magic in game one was not being able to hit a shot and getting out rebounded big time. I think it was a statement game for the Lakers but they can't expect the magic to play like that the whole series. Now saying this the Magic will come out with extra intesity on Sunday night out for Blood and i think they can still win it. Now one thing that might have cause part of the game one blow out was Nelson being put back in maybe messing the chemestry up a little and he was a little off beat and he just needs to get his shot going and not be scared to take it

Ok, ok. Well my original prediction was Lakers in 6. But after seeing the lakers, not the Magic, in Game 1, I'm saying it will go at-most 5. I realize the Magic couldnt hit a shot, but the way the Lakers played tell me they are a team on a mission and nothing is going to stop them from gettin that ring.

Ha Steven your right this team is on a mission, but you also have to remember this is the LA Lakers, this team is one of the most inconsistant teams in the NBA. They will play strong one night then Lamar"Fools Gold" Odom will come out and play terribly the next game. This man has the perfect NBA body, but he doesn't know how to use it.

Maybe i'm the only one that noticed the Lakers blow out the Rockets in the second round by 40 then come back and lay an egg the next game. Not saying this will happen but it's possible and if Lamar Odom eats all his candy he'll be less of a factor

Yah thats what I mean the Lakers go when by forty then lose the next game there was no reason for the Lakers to go seven games with the Rockets, that was embarrassing for them, knowing that the Lakers were the better team they lost two more games when they should've won the series in five.

Game two is tonight.

We'll see if Orlando fairs any better.

I think it's actually easier in the playoffs to come back from getting blown out, then coming off a close loss, so we'll see how Orlando fairs tonight.

Oh it is easily pmoe because the Lakers will be have the attitude that they could easily win the game and that the Magic will easily lose. The Magic can easily win this game because of the reason that they will start hitting shots today and the Lakers lackadasial attitute will hurt them in this game.

It's not that so much.

If your a young team like Orlando, losing a close game can easily discourage you.

For the Lakers I don't think it matters how much they lose by simply because they have too many experienced players like Kobe, Gasol, and Fisher that have been there before.

But depending on the outcome of a close game you can come out of a game thinking what do we have to do to beat these guys?

If your blown out you can write it off as we have to make adjustments, or we didn't play hard enough.

If you ask most coaches they will tell you that if your gonna lose, lose big.

I've seen teams be crippled in a championship series by losing a close game early on.

I really don't recall seeing that happen with a blowout loss though.

The Lakers take game two and that was an amazing game. The Lakers just wanted it more Kobe had 29 points and he carried the Lakers to a 101-96. I have to say J.J. Reddick played a horrible game. He made key turnovers and then he couldn't shoot the ball to save his life tonight he let the Magic down today.

Courtney Lee missing that layup at the end of regulation could have been the series right there.

Now instead of coming home with the series tied up at one, and only needing to take 2 out of 3 to stay in command, the Magic now may have to win all three games at home to have a chance against the Lakers.

If Orlando winds up losing the series in six or seven, I'm sure Courtney Lee and the rest of the Magic are going to have alot of sleepless nights thinking about what could have been had that shot gone in.

I uh don't know what to say. That lay up by Lee that he just missed a little strong was really the Dagger. And then playing JJ wasn't the best thing they could have done but they didn't have much and he just couldn't hit anything. I dont think Pietru fouled Kobe when he fouled out atleast i didn't see it. All we can hope is to come back here and win all three at home like the Other florida team the Heat did against the heat. I've seen crazy things in sports so it's not over in any means.

Pmoe but if you look at that shot he is under the backboard and he has to try and lay it up he had a really bad angle at the shot, it was makeable but it is a difficult shot. Courtney missed an easy lay up with 10 seconds left in the game that is the only play I think that he messed up on was. He had a perfect hance to make a three foot lay up and he misssed it. IF you are going to criticize him you should do it for the 10 second lay up miss not the last second miss that sent it into overtime.

I wouldn't really say I'm criticizing him.

But the fact remains that if that shot had gone in, the series would have been tied up at one.

You can't miss shots like that, and beat the Lakers in a seven game series.

It was a tough shot, but with .6 on the clock that's as good of a shot as your going to get.

Championship teams make those shots.

You can look earlier in the game, and say any player should have made an open shot.  Fact is nobody knew what the outcome of the game was going to entail.

It's only Lee's last second regulation shot that people are going to remember.

THe Lakers probaly wouldn't have made it because the Magic would have trippled team Kobe Bryant, but you never know you know what a great defensive play that no one is paying attention to is the block on Kobe to give the Magic a chance to get that last shot. Hedo is played a good game and he still lost. The Lakers are smart they know that the offense runs through Hedo, so if you take him out of the picture the Magic can't function.

I'm the one here who prolly knows this MAgic team the best and we can al agree with that. that play they ran to Lee was the same play they ran back in 2006 against the Spurs to win but that time it was to Dwight. I think Lees play was a little harder even though it was a great pass and he should have made it. Turk ad Lewis were really the only ones who showed up and if the MAgic want to bounce back it comes down to how good the PG's play if they can pick it up the Magic will win. And Mark my words. the Lakers got more calls at home the Magic will get more calls at home

The Magic should be able to win this game, but if they don't then they will have no chance at winning. So that brings me to this Dwight needs to start acting like SUperman he is averaging 10 points less in this series than the series against the Cavaliers. And for god sake don't play J.J Reddick over half of the game. J.J. isn't that good of a player stop playing him so much and stop having him the main ball handler in crunch time.

Well the Magic did what they had to do to win that game last night. They played possibly their best game of the series and now its a legit series thats up for grabs. Really wish it was 2-1 Magic but lees missed layup which could have been called goaltending for Gasol hitting the rim but it was a ticky tacky call if it was. If they come out do it again in games 4 and 5 its 3-2 them going back to LA with a legit shot at winning it there

Congrats to the Magic and their overdone celebration, "hey, we won a game!! Let's drop graffiti. No, I dont care that it's only game three in a series that we're inevitably gonna lose."

This has nothing to do with the Bulls. it would if the Celtics were still playing. But the only thing this has relating to the Bulls is Phil.

Dude Steven that is not the only game they are going to win in the series because the Magic have found a way to sorda contain Kobe Bryant. His supporting casts is doing fine but Kobe is deciding that he needs to shoot all the shots so he is getting tired by the fourth quarter and now is missing all his shots. After the first quarter he went 4-12 that is unaccpetable for somebody of his status. He is the best playter in the league, and for having the nickname "the closer" he did a great job closing out the game yesterday. He turns the ball over to Micheal Petrius and he goes down and makes the 2 freethrows.

Steven that is the second game he has played poorly in. Remember he played poorly in game 2 the reason people aren't talking about that is because the Lakers won and the Magic lost.

Hey it happens to everyone Kobe is no acception, and even if he does have a good game the Lakers have lost 7 straight road games in the NBA Finals and the Magic always play good at home.

I'm just going to throw this out here and say that when kobe shoots the ball 25 or more times in a game then the next game he comes out nad has a bad game. Not saying this is going to hapen but hey its possible. Yes the Magic did gloat a lot for the win but it was their first finals win in team hisstory and they do that after all games like some other teams do. Kobe having three bad games in a row won't happen. Trust me, this guy is to good to have three bad ames in a row and it really surprised me that he missed all those free throws down the stretch in game 3.

And PSU the Magic are one of the better road team in the Leagu so if they have to and they win all three at home and have to win one in LA its very possible. They did win their first two playoff series on the road i will remind u

Dale even if Kobe has a normal Kobe night, he seems to be losing his legs by the end of the third quarter and early fourth quarter. It is showing to because the last couple of games he can't get the jumper to fall for him. But Kobe if he has a normal Kobe night the Magic should just worry about stopping Lamar Odom and Pau Gasol because not even Kobe can do it alone. So the Magic should do what they did to Lebron let Kobe go off and just shut down the supporitng cast.

Yah no kidding and when your tired you can't get enough air off the ground to hit the jumper. The Lakers have played a long and gruleing NBA playoffs. The Magic have taken care of buisness.

Orlando gift wrapped that game for LA.

Up by three with just over 10 seconds to go, your at the line, and you still can't put it away?

You have to win games like that if your in the NBA Finals if you want to give yourself a chance.

That's it the Magic deserve to lose this series if you give two games away like they did 2 and 4 you don't deserve to win anymore. Pmoe I agree with you 110% how in God's name do you end up losing the game in this situation oh and Jameer here is an idea how about foul Derek Fischer before he gets the three off. Seems like a good idea to me and that would have kept the Magic in the series tied at 2-2. Magic couldn't hit free throws either which killed them Hedo bad game at the line, Dwight resorted to his old erratic ways at the line.
