This is a sad day for basketball fans the leader of the "Bad Boys" Pistons he won back to back championships with them and lead the Dream Team to the Gold Medal. How old was he when he died?

I've always had mixed feelings when it came to Chuck Daly.
No question he was one of the smartest men to ever coach the game of basketball, and he was a winner virtually everywhere he went.
At the same time those Pistons teams of the late 80's and early 90's while great had absolutely zero class which I blame partly on him.
He also had a tough time handling a talented but very selfish Nets team in the mid-90's and it was interesting to see how much less he was willing to put up with in New Jersey then he was in Detroit.
My view on Chuck Daly is a modern coach who's primary concern was winning at any cost, which I'm fine with in large part. The pro game allows you to successful with that type of mentality, and Daly is by no means the only coach ever to have this mindset.
I feel for his family who I'm sure loved him, and I've seen first hand the pain cancer can cause in people who have it, and I certainly don't think he deserved that.
Again though my view on him is great coach, and nothing more beyond that.
