Was the new rule about hitting the quarterback below then knee right or wrong? Do you think QBs are overprotected by the NFL??
My Opinion: I think the new rule is BS... as Defense you job is to get to the Ball carrier such as QB, RB, WR, TE ect... you are goin to get hit down by someone on defense. The same thing happen to Carson Palmer the DL slipped threw the Offensive Line and accidentally hit below the knee.. Football can be a dangerous sport and you have to take one for the team... and yes the NFL is over protective, they overprotect them cuz you pay them the Most money...
It's a good move. You need to watch out for the players. You can't risk getting one of them hurt so badly that it could end his carrer. Its might not be an easy rule to inforce but if u see how some guys get these horrible knee injurys that could end their football carrer i don't think any of us want to see that happen

I think they made the right call. They need to protect the stars of the league. If these injurys are career ending, and 3 or 4 happen to guys like Ryan,Manning,Fitz,Anquan, etc. the league would lose a lot of money from casual fans. Ask someone on the street the 1st player that comes to your head, they say Brady or Manning. We can't let them get hurt.
Its a good move because you have seen so many quarterbacks end up hurting their knee on a play like that. The one besides Tom Brady's in recent memory was when Carson Palmer had his knee torn inside out by the Steelers player Kimo Van Olfman, sorry can't spell his name, but that took the Bengals out of the playoffs just on that one play. This is a good move a quarterback can really hurt himself when someone lunges at your knee like tath

i think the NFL is protecting the qb a little to much. I understand their doing for the safety of the stars of the league, but pass rushers cant even touch the quarterback now without getting penalized
The NFL is all about protecting the offense. I'm a life-long Bears fan so I've grown up loving great defensive games. The NFL makes these stupid rules to make games higher scoring. This is complete and utter bullsh*t. Example of a rule that has been around forever that is retarded: Facemask. If a defensive guy even so much as touches the facemask of an offensive player it is 15 yards. But how many times do you see a runningback grab a defender by his facemask and throw him to the ground? Dick Butkis had a theory on that. He said he wanted to make sure they would get penalized for doing that and make sure they never did it again by attempting to bite the fingers of any offensive guy who grabbed his facemask. Then theres the QB thing. In the Bears first game of the season against the Colts(and I saw this happen many times this season), Brian Urlacher came on a blitz, Manning threw the ball, Urlacher jumped in an attempt to bat the ball down, came down and touched Mannings helmet, 15 yards of total BS.
