Here is my Underrated Team also consisting of current major leaguers. Once again is open for debate.
SP-Jamie Moyer-I cant say enough about this guy. Buck and McCarver did nothing but rip this guy the whole postseason and all he did was win 16 games for the World Champion Philles at the very young age of 45. The Phillies like him him so much he was rewarded with a gaurenteed 2 yr deal. He is also a great locker room guy and a true leader. Every spring training he gives a lecture to all the Phils minor league pitchers where he challenges each one of them to take his job.
SP-Gavin Floyd-I still cant believe the Phils gave up on this guy, and to think that all the Chisox had to give up for him was Freddy Garcia.
SP-Kyle Loshe-Is turning into a stud and has always been a workhorse. He gives you quality start after quality start.
SP-Dan Haren-In my opinion the best pitcher on Arizonas staff but has to play second fiddle to Brandon Webb who can very close to my overrated team.
RP-JC Romero-Has been absolutely outstanding in his year and 3/4's with the Phils. To think that the Phils plucked him off the waiver wire.
RP-Takashi Saito-Had the tools to be one of baseballs premier closers, should excel in setup role withe the Bosox.
CL-Joe Nathan-Arguebly the best closer in the game, is certainly one of the few shutdown closers in the game.
1B- Carlos Delgado-All he has done is hit something like 30 homers or more in something like 12 straight seasons. The Mets actually were leaning toward not picking up his option afer a dismal 1st half in 2008. Barring a major injury is quielty approaching 500 career homers and should surpass the mark this season.
2B-Orlando Hudson-Is one of the better defenders at his postion and can swing a big bat. The fact that he was just recently signed is a complete travesty. Along with Furcal they will will make up one the best doubleplay combos in the game.
3B-David Wright-Deserves more of the credit of the Mets sucess, Wright has the capability of carring the team on his back for the long haul.
SS-Hanley Ramirez-Is going to be the next superstar in the game, has the capabilty of hitting further down in the lineup and driving in over 100 runs as well as hitting leadoff and stealing 60 bases.
OF-Vladimir Guerrero-Since moving to Anahiem has sort of flown under the radar. Is the only guy I have ever seen who will swing at anything and still hit .320. Watched him one year with the Expos when in like 30 games against the Phils that year he hit well over .400.
OF-Nate McClouth-Is in the same mold as a Kevin Youkilis or Matt Holliday, McClouth is stud waiting to happen.
OF-Curtis Granderson-In 2007 he accomplished the same feat as Jimmy Rollins and actually did it before Rollins when he completed the Quaduple doble consisting of double digit numbers in 2B,3B,HR, and SB's(took Rollins to get a triple to complete the feat in game #162). Rollins wins MVP and Granderson doesnt even garner a vote.
C-Russell Martin-Is one of most durable catchers to come along in a long time. If all the stars align and he has a career year has the capability to become the majors 1st 30/30 catcher.
