Spring Stiffs

Here's a list of most of the has been's who have been given spring training invites in the hopes of making a comeback to the bigs.

Always find it a little interesting to see people who haven't been relevant in five years try to make a big league roster.

The funny part is you can actually make a pretty good team from these guys if you take them at their peak.

I'm also listing only the guys I care about which is still pretty long, so for all of you Brandon Fahey fans, I'm sorry for leaving him off the list.  If you want to know who he signed with look it up.  While your at it, you may want to look up who the hell Brandon Fahey is as well, or just not and save yourself some valuable time.

I tried to put some comments in here and there to make the list a little more readable, but feel free to just glance over.  Your not really missing anything important.

Kris Benson
Best season: 2000 Pittsburgh Pirates
Last seen: 2006 Baltimore Orioles
Signed with: Texas Rangers (he will be forced to go home to his incredibly hot slut for a wife if he can't make the team, tough life.)

Emil Brown
Best season: 2006 Kansas City Royals
Last seen: 2008 Oakland Athletics
Signed with: San Diego Padres

Vinnie Chulk:

David Newhan
Best season: 2004 Baltimore Orioles

Signed with: Detroit Tigers (why not)

Juan Rincon
Best season: 2004 Minnesota Twins (the year he started taking steroids to get better)

You can scratch Eric Gagne from this list.

He was released last week due to shoulder problems.

Most likely he will either retire or wind up pitching for an Independent Minor League team.

At 33, he still has some time left where he can come back.
