Stoudemire out 8 weeks

Amare Stoudemire's career in Phoenix has taken another turn as it has been announced that he will be out for eight weeks with a detached retina. This is his 2nd eye njury in Phoenix and this injury could possibly cost him the entire season. After letting the trade deadline go without a trade it appears the Suns are in deep trouble as the push for the playoffs continue.

it looks like they were about too re-emerge as a contender in the west because of the coaching change, now this sets them way way way back

No way Phoenix even gets out of the first round with Amare out, and that's assuming they even make the playoffs which I don't think they will.

The Suns just seem like a team that lacks direction on all fronts right now.

They don't know whether to build for the future, or try to win now.

But he could potentially be back for the playoffs if they make it. I for one think the suns still have a good chance of making the playoffs. THey still have one of the best point guards in steve nash as well as shaq, richardson, and barbosa. They do not lack leadership on the team which is what they'll need to get through it. It's a 9 team race for 8 spots in the west and phoenix is in reaching distance of about 5 teams. Don't jump of the bandwagon quite yet.

SG I agree with you on this one. The Suns are not going to have a power forward like Amare, and even though he was only averagin 21 points a game he changed the game for sure. He was doubled team by other teams opening up lanes for Steve Nash and Shaq. Now that Amare is gone Steve Nash will not have the pick and roll game that he had with Amare, and now teams are going to double team Shq and they are going to have to rely on him to score more and I just don't see that happening for the SUns.

This is a big blow to the Suns. If they had made that move at the deadline and moved Amr'e like some reports had said it would make for an interesting deal. It most likely would have ended up like the tyson chandler deal where he was sent back for failing his physical. This hurts their playoff chances alot and i think that if they do make it they will be lucky to possibly have him back in time for the playoffs.

Well they only did that in one game without him and you got to remember it was against two of the worst teams in the NBA in the Clippers twice and the Thunder the other time

The Thunder I hate them so much, but I'm done talking about them. The Phoenix Suns have scored 140 points in three straight games first time since the 90's. THey have scored a lot but come on the Clippers, they are one of the worst teams in the NBA. They are just out of it this year. The Thunder have been playing better, with Kevin Durant scoring 37 points I believe it was yesterday, but he needs some help to balance out the scoring.

I think that if that trade with the Hornets where they would have gotten Tyson Chandler had worked out that would have helped them out a good amount. It allows them to have a dominant big man in the middle but it will still be a few years before they do anything

Thats really funny thought that the trade didn't go through and he failed his physical. I think that the Thunder maybe could have possibly been a contender for the final playoff spot next year if they got Tyson, but they didn't and now they don't have to worry about it.

Um Idk baja lets think about that, he is long and lanky and he is about one of the best defensive players in the league. He is a good post player. He can average 20 and 10 every night. So yea he is bad.

He did it last year I don't see why they can't do it this year. He could be good enough if he gets healthy and starts playing the way he used to.

Those 25-30 games he missed would hurt the Thunder, and they wouldn't be a contender.

Baja how would games he already missed with the hornets hurt the thunder? And no this wouldn't make them contenders right away but it couldn't hurt.

Were pretending that if he was on the Thunder, It would hurt them. If he played for them and he goes down, It would hurt the thunder.

bob do u honestly think chandler would make that much of a dirrerence if that trade happened? i mean chandler is a good player when healthy, but i dont think he would be enough to turn that thunder team into a playoff contender

Um yah I actually do considering that the Thunder have centers like Nick Collison and Robert Swift so yah I think they could have done a lot for the Thunder.

Bob when chandler isn't healthy, which seems to me more often than not, he's about as useful as a collison or swift.
