Ok well as you all know today was the NBA Slam Dunk Contest and Three Point Shooting Contest, but first thing is first. The winner in the Silver Star Competition was the Detroit Pistons and the Playstation Challenge was won by Derek Rose. The two time champion was knocked out in the Three Point Shooting Contest( Jason Kappono) Rashard Lewis had the contest won till Daequan Cook hit four of five threes on the final rack to send it to sudden death. Rashard Lewis layed an egg and only hit seven, while Daequan Cook hit 19 three pointers. The Dunk Contest wow was that something. The best dunk has to be Nate Robinson coming out and jumping over Dwight Howard. Dwight had some nice with the dunk of a 12 foot hoop and two handed. Nate did a very nice dunk with a reverse double pump. As Dwight Howard probaly would have won the contest until he decided to do a Dr.J and he did a a free throw dunk and he first of all, he was in front of the line which really messed it up. The final vote was 52% to 48%. Nate Robinson is your winner. My overall out put on it was this was a very disappointing All Star Game Weekend. Derrik Rose was going nonchelant the whole time explaing his dismal time at 34 seconds. The three point contest was lame in the fact that the highest score was 19. That was really bad, last year Jason Kapono won with a score of 25. Then this year they don't even hit the 20's. The Dunk Contest was good but I feel that the judges gave Dwight Howard favorable scores. Give me your thoughts on what you thought about NBA ALL Star Weekend?

LeBron unoffically announced his participation in the 2010 Slam Dunk Contest. That may wind up being the most significant thing to come out of this All-Star weekend.
I could care less for the Silver Star competition or whatever the event is called that acts as an excuse to get WNBA players in a competition.
Playstation skills was deffinately dissapointing this year, I like Derrick Rose, but where's Jose Calderon and Deron Williams? I think they need more guys in that competition.
3-Point shootout may have been the worst ever or at least the weakest as far as competitors. Jason Kapono was probably the best shooter out of the bunch even though he didn't win, but even Kapono I wouldn't consider a great shooter. Then again great shooters as a whole are begining to die out in the NBA. You can no longer have a guy like Craig Hodges on the roster where all he does is shoot the basketball and nothing else. It also is probably because every guard in the world wants to be Michael Jordan, and Jordan wasn't that great of an outside shooter. Kind of shows you how the game has evolved both for better and worse.
Dunk contest was allright. Shows like the one Dwight Howard put on last year don't happen often, so to expect that only sets you up to be let down. However this year's contest didn't stink up the joint, however I do agree the judges were a little biased in the scoring, however the two best guys were there in the end, and the right person won.
Hopefully LeBron is there next year along with Howard and Robinson, and maybe Kobe or Vince Carter can be convinced to join in as well although those last two may be pushing it.
Problem with all-star weekends in almost every sport (NBA is actually the best one with this but still isn't immune) is that the all-star game is not for the players it's for the fans, but most players try to make it about themselves.
I understand if somebody's got an injury and is trying to use the break to rest up, but if your fully healthy like LeBron, Kobe, or Vince Carter and your not in the Dunk contest, your putting yourself above the fans in my opinion. No excuse for why those guys get to be on the sidelines, and I have to watch J.R. Smith dunk, although I think players are slowly starting to smarten up in this aspect actually.
Dwight Howards 12 ft. dunk shouldnt of been a 50 because that was a easy alley oop. and Rudy should of got higher scores on both of his dunks i believe. and Nate's 2nd dunk was pretty cool because i havent seen someone jump off someones back. and Nate changing into his "kryptonite" uniform was pretty cool for the last round and using a kryptonite basketball and jump over Dwight Howard. and cant wait till next year because LeBron will be in the 2010 Slam Dunk Contest.
Next year dunk participants should be: Robinson Howard James Bryant Maybe with james entering the contest next year, this will be a wake up call for all big stars to get back into the all-star game festivities.
I would buy that whole uniform that Nate had I loved the kryptonite green and the shoes man they were kickin. But the reason they didn't give Rudy a higher score was because it took it a long time to do that dunk, if he would've had it any of the first three times he would have gotten a 50
