Do you care A-Rod took steroids?

As I watched Sportscenter today, I was surprised how many people across the United States really didn't care that A-Rod took steroids. It's more or less become common for baseball players to have taken or took steroids.

So the question is now yours too, do you honestly really care A-Rod took steroids?

The way people have been reacting isn't so much because of whether or not A-Rod took steroids, but ESPN is reporting this thing as if it's the only major issue in sports right now.

Yet they're forgetting the fact that this happened 5 years ago, and we've already been down this road too many times to have anything else really shocking to come out of it.

One thing the Mitchell report stated is that if baseball as a whole is to move forward as a game the past must been taken for what it was, and the focus must be placed on the present and the future.

I'm not getting into my opinions on the Mitchell report (I have a major problem with putting a person with partial ownership of a team in charge for one) but that statement was right on the button.

Problem is it's been ignored by just about everyone involved in covering the game, and by many fans as well.

Another thing that most eductated fans can see right though is that A-Rod is without questioned being targeted.

Curt Schilling just recently said if it's such an issue to the fans and the media, why not just release everyone's names?

Problem is I'm sure whoever got a hold of these tests results would have a lawsuit on their hands from Donald Fehr and the players association just or unjust as it may be, so I doubt that will happen.

Clearly whoever leaked this info to Sports Illustrated who reported this has it in for Alex Rodriguez for whatever reason, and if found should be fired on the spot by Major League Baseball or whoever else he may be employed by.

That's really all I have to say about this issue.

I echo pmoehrin's thoughts on the subject. Someone most definately had it in for A-Rod; and as a Yankee Fan and a baseball fan in general, I have to say this guy has had way to many shots taken at him over the years. Whether they were self or media inflicted is on a case by case basis.

He admited he did them from 2001-2003, close the book move on. Before he took steroids he was a hell of a player and after he took steroids he was a hell of a player. He made a mistake and this is America; we all know how we love to give 2nd chances out. (Does anyone remember Kobe's infidelity or MJ's love of Gambling anymore?)

I do not care that he took steroids, it's safe bet that was just the environment then and a good percentage of baseball players/athletes in general took steroids. Sadly A-Rod is the scape goat right now.

Release all 104 names now, what's left to hide?

i honestly dont care who takes steroids these days. even though you take steroids you need to have some skill and talent to be a MLB player. if i took steroids, I'm not going to automatically hit 500 homers. I think that aloy of people are forgetting about that. sure a-rod took steroids, but he still needs the skill and concentration to hit the ball, and field his position. plus, he is always under pressure about being the highest paid player, and not living up to that, so to try and satisfy the fans, he takes the steroids and hopefully his play improves. Now that the truth has come out, people still don't like him. Seems like no matter what he does, he cant win

So those of you who don't care (almost all), i may sound a little naive on the issue but do you not care about steroids in baseball period? Penn i agree you need some skill to play the game but if doesn't do that much (like you say) then why do so many players feel the need to take it? Why is this SUCH a big problem if these drugs "don't do that much." Obviously it does something that none of us know about. I do care that one of the best players in our time cheated. I do care about all the players taking these because if i don't, aren't i saying steroids are acceptable in this day and age?

I care about this because now that he admitted he took them, ESPN has only about two days left of this story. Had he denied it, we would still be hearing about it come opening day.

I don't honestly care about A rod taking steroids because everyone was doing it back then. There were 104 baseball players caught in 2003 for steroids and he is one of them so it really doesn't matter to me. He has done it without with the steroids for about five years now so I'm fine with it.

What scares me more about A-Rod is that he finds Madonna attractive. Who knew Steroids meesed with your vision

Steroids only make a difference on how far you hit the baseball. It does not help your vision nor your hand and eye coordination. If you ask me the pitchers on the juice were at a greater advantage than the hitters. The throwing of baseball is in direct correlation of your strength. SO Clemens benefitted more from the steroids than A-Rod.

Yes that is true, BBallcoach but now this is another turn off for baseball. Many people now don't like baseball and I can't blame them at all, they didn't like the lock out in the 90's and they didn't like the fact that these athletes make a lot of money. Then theirs the fact about steroids I'm calling A-rod A-roid now whenever I see him play against the Mariners next year.

Now bob who's to say a-rod is telling the truth? If he completely lied to katie couric in 2007 about using it, why would he be telling the truth now? He said he felt "pressure" in texas... how did he not feel any pressure coming to new york?? I can't believe he felt the need to take drugs in texas and not new york about "pressure." Doesn't make sense.

Your probaly right cheesy you can't trust him and I don't buy his crap that he felt the pressure of Texas thats a bunch of bull man. I think you would feel more pressure in New York than in Texas.

Is A-Rod valid by saying he felt pressure in Texas so he took steroids? Only A-Rod knows that. But we do know is that the guy had the biggest contract in sports history, had a lot to live up too and needed to prove himself.

While I disgree taking steroids is a way to take the pressure off of you, I can understand his reasoning. I just wish he went about it the way he did before that, with his natural born talent.

The point by that is JP that when he took steroids it helped him get stronger. But the funny thing about the steroids is that they help you get stronger they don't help you hit the ball.

A-Rod never said he felt pressure playing in the state of Texas. It was not a geographical thing. He felt pressure to live up to the larger contract in baseball history. That I do believe.

Ya i know it wasn't a "geographical" thing. But why didn't he feel "pressure" when he came to new york, media frenzy new york, signing the biggest contract ever?
