As most of you may know already, a Dallas high school girls basketball coach was recently fired for beating Dallas Academy, a school that teaches kids with learning disabilities, 100-0. Dallas Academy was a school that only had 20 girls and 8 of them were on the Varsity basketball team.
The coach was full court pressing Dallas Academy until they were 25-0, then pressed again in the 4th quarter. The school apologized after the game but the coach would not go with the apology saying "we played with honor and integrity"
The coach was fired after disagreeing with the apology.
I think the coach should not have been fired, I think the person who scheduled this match should be fired. Your thoughts?

I love the fact that the team that won apologized. That's like them saying, "We are sorry that you suck beyond epic proportions." The other team should've been the one apologizing for not showing up or showing any kind of competition. Then in one article I read about it, the person who wrote it tried saying that the other team "never gave up and put up a good fight." They didn't make a single basket!!

Ya steve i reeeeeally hope you missed the part about the team having kids who have learning disabilities. The coach should be fired without a doubt. A team has learning disabilities, not really able to play basketball, and you go out full court press them and beat them 100-0. Good job guys i hope you're really proud of yourself beating a team like that. Real class.
Hey Steven that school teaches kids with learning disabilites, so give them some slack, now that coach is the biggest idiot in the world. IF he had any kind of conscious he should have pulled his starters after they were up 59-0, but with most of the world he decides to show no sportmanship what so ever. The Dallas writer I applaud him for putting this in the paper that he writes for. No one should have to lose 100-0. If I was the coach I would have atleast let them score a basket or two. THat team isn't very good, this is the first year that the school got a basketball program and they had enough girls to join the team. They even said they knew they weren't good and they were trying to play the game the hardest they could play. That school has only 20 girls which is 1A the smallest conference you can be in highschool. That coach should've been fired for his lack of sportmanship in that game.

I think its really funny. I think that the person who made up the schedule is at fault. I just find it funny a team dosn't know how to play basketball and lost that bad

i think both are at fault. the coach full court pressed until it was 25-0. at that point, he had to know it was going to be ugly. i also blame the schedule maker for putting a team of kids with learning disabilities against a team as good as that dallas high school team. i dont blame the school for apologizing, but i also dont blame the coach for standing up for what he beleives in
There are standards people have and that was just a disgrace. I mean Dale whay would you think if your team was losing 100-0 what would you do. You would probaly to be mean. That coach was distatesful in the way he played that game. He should've apologized for what he did to what he did it must have been really hard to be those girls for what they went through. I know I would be mad if that happend to my team.

How in the hell can you blame the people making the schedule?!?! The whole freaking team had a learning disability which means no matter who they play they're going to get killed. They'll be lucky if they can score a basket in any game. Whatever happened to just playing for fun? Whatever happened to sportsmanship? Especially in freaking high school! it's not like they're in a professional league here! these kids signed up for basketball to have fun, not to have some prick run a full court press and beat them 100-0. give me a break.
Thank you cheesy thats what I have been saying for a while now. I have not been blown out by 100 but my team played O'dea and I have lost by 40 points, and that was really hard because even though we played hard we lost by a lot.

Well Depends if The Coach just told the team to keep on bringing it to the other team and not try to run out the clock. or just have them Keep Making 3's all day and doing Full Court press. If the Coach told the team to do that i would fire the coach.
So apparently the losing team had girls with learning disabilities. Uhh, I kinda feel like a giant a-hole right now. I have a cousin who has a learning disability. So in that case, the blame can only go one place. Not the person who scheduled it, and not the coach, but the girls on the team. They should've taken it easy and atleast let the other team score a couple baskets, just to let them feel good about themselves.

i dont think theres anyway you can blame the girls playing for this. there just going out there doing what there coach is telling them to do. im sure they werent very comfortable with it and wanted to let the girls on the other team score, but the coach would probably get angry and take it out and his players. trust me, ive seen it happen at my school before
IF he tells them to shoot threes now all the time it should be an indicator that they are going easy on them, but if I was the coach I would let my back up players play for next year get more experience if they happen to make the State Finals. But this coach had other ideas and now is fired for being the biggest idiot in Dallas.

This whole situation is ridiculous....fire the coach...fire the coach.....the man gets (or was getting) paid to do a job. You put a team on the court and you play to win the games. if you want sportsmanship and good feelings....stay in P.E. class and stickmto dodgeball. the only way a team improves is through sompetition with other schools. The Arkansas School for the deaf and blind have a football team and they dont ask anyone to take it easy on them. They go out and play...if they lose 56-0, they dont complain about it and the parents dont get upset at the other coch for still blitzing. The team that won the game is one of the better teams in the state of texas and they have to prepare for the playoffs. They played their reserves for the vast majority of the game and pressed because that's how their style is. It's like telling Duke to go easy on Chminade because they arent as good. Either get on the court or stay on the bus.

CO i hate to say it but i totally disagree with you for once. This is completely different than telling duke to go easy on Chaminade. What are the girls going to learn out of pressing a mentally challenged team?? I would love to know what they are going to take out of this game and use in the playoffs. This isn't college, it's high school and there's nothing these girls would've learned by pressing the whole game and winning 100-0.
These girls if I am correct were just learning how to play basketball. Bottomline is it's amazing that the Dallas Academy has a basketball team anyways with 20 kids at the school. The team next year will be better than this year, but Co when it comes to basketball and football its different than football. In football their are games when you will be shut out. My football team whas shut out three times this year. In basketball it is nearly impossible to be shut out Co. I mean in basketball at least let them score maybe two or three baskets. Make the girls feel better.

They arent mentally challenged Cheesy. I saw the interview with the team. They have learning disabilities like dyslexia and ADD. it's not like the other team went out and beat the crap out of a bunch of Special Olympians. You play the teams on your schedule and you run your system. Would you rather the guy just tell his team to go easy on the other girls? What does that teach the girls from the other school? That don't worry sweetheart, people will go easy on you because you can't focus? Life isnt fair. If you don't want to play the good teams, dont schedule them.

Ha it's not like i'm saying lets hold their hands while they play, but can you tell me why a coach would think it would be necessary to win 100-0 even against a team with ADD or dyslexia? Is winning that important to you for you to think it's necessary to do that?
I mean what did you want the coach to do.....he stopped pressing in the 3rd quarter with his backups....he told his girls to only take shots when they were wide open. If the opposing coach felt so bad for his girls, why didnt he come over at halftime and ask to call the game? Because he also knew it was important for his team to learn that not everything in life is easy andfair. It was a learning experience. The team that lost didn't even seem that upset when they interviewed them on ESPN. They came out and said that we learned a lot from the game.

Well we hear different sides to the game because i've heard he pressed the whole game. The point i'm trying to make is that yes life isn't fair and not everything will come easy but if he did press the whole game i wold wanna know why is winning that important? If he stopped pressing in the 3rd than that's different. And you can't assume the girls weren't upset based on an interview with espn.
Because he can....I mean I dont totally approve of what the coach did by pressing late in the 4th if he did but he did have the backups backups in the game and they do need to learn the defense....this was just a bad situation from top to bottom.
